TBF ....these comments are reflective of Sloane's career contributions .....not potentially his last year

Did you hear the massive wraps given by horse about Franklin .....and Franklin has had a very poor final year

It's what Coaches do when discussing their club champions .....Nicks will say similar things about Tex .....what was he going to do, run a player like Sloane down in public ......cmon, seriously ??

You can say nice, complimentary, wishy washy bullshit about Sloane being a great and important player without saying something as patently absurd as “Sloane is the football club”.

Ok you're kidding right.

He had an extremely short peak, and the bad years are coming pretty close to outnumbering the good. What's his legacy? Guy who couldn't beat a tag?

There really isn't any argument to keep him on.

No need to reward him, he has been paid well, has been happy to drag negotiations out for the best deal over the years and the club has made sure his wife's profile has increased.

Leadership isn't one of them. Time for new leaders.

Mark Bickley claiming Rory would be better than the number 42nd player on the list is list Management from the 90's.

I hope we don't offer him something after football. Needs to spend time away from the club.

This guy hasn't been volunteering his time at the club. Has been well looked after.

"Rory Sloane was present between years 2009 and 2023

Neale can't break a tag .....Naicos was tagged out of the game against HAW (5 possessions in 60% TOG) ......Sicily, Oliver .....the list goes on

The reference really hasn't any significance ......other than the opposition thought highly enough of Sloane to tag him .....whoops, does that mean Sloane was influential

Mutineer - contribute something beyond your safety blanket thumbs down brain rot.

If you disagree and think he's top 10 in our history, where do you place him?
He is not top 10. Probably not top 20.

But has been a heart and soul guy for us for his entire career. And a big fan favourite. He is a true club man. Deserves a good send off.

I am not saying he should be on our list next year either. Shouldn't even be playing this week really. He is done.

The club need to ensure his retirement is done with class. Or risk undoing the good it has done on the club culture space the last few years.

I hope he does the right thing and announces a retirement next week. We can farewell him in our last home game against Sydney.

Oh here we go. Captain cooked at it again.

Neale is a brownlow medallist, who has maintained a peak as an elite player for longer than Sloane was even good. Daicos is a thirty game player.

No one with any sense would put Sloane next to either of them. So what's the legacy? He was taggable for a few years (with extreme success)?

Better build the statue.

Always the outraged idiot with no substance.

What are the headline tickets on Sloane's career? A one time all Australian What made him an "absolute warrior"? What sacrifices did he ever make for the club?

This is not the territory of club legend who gets to write his own ticket. He's not even top 10 in our not that long history.
You'd be in the absolute minority of Adelaide supporters if you think Rory hasn't had a very very decent career especially for a player taken at pick 44.

All Australian, 2 B&F's, AFL players nominated Robert Rose Medal (Most Courageous), Showdown Medal and Captained his AFL Club looks a pretty decent career to any fair minded supporter.

And as much as I have criticized Hamish and his handling of early picks, he absolutely has found some good to great players who were drafted to be the "42nd player on the list".

Well, if you're going to character assassinate a Club great with a “generalised” comments .....of course you're going to get rebuffed

So you're upset, but the highest praise you're prepared to give is 'decent'? What a backhander to Rory.

Is he top 10? If not, can you stop with your outrage pants wetting all the time.

Character assassinate nothing, I'm coming directly at the issue.

His career hasn't been good enough to deserve special consideration at all.

The club has an issue with elevating non-premiership players to legend status based on the amount of games they've played, rather than any team (or even personal) achievements they've generated

and in Rory's case, he's not even the talismanic player of this unsuccessful generation.

The leader was always Walker.

Even ignoring leadership you can make a case for Walker being a club legend because he's the all time leading goal kicker. Sloane has been a great player for us but doesn't have something on that level

He's definitely not on the level of Roo, Goodwin, etc.

I'd say he's below the level of Thommo also, who was an absolute gun, even if he didn't have premiership success.

That foot injury in 2018 cost him a couple of years in what should have still been his prime.

So, he gets to name his own retirement date because he was involved in a bump six ******* years ago
Keep up...

Nowhere have I suggested that Sloane should get anything other than a tap on the shoulder that his time is up and it's time the club moved on to getting games into his younger replacements.
That doesn't take anything away from what has been a very very decent career with way way more highlights than disappointments.

He'll have equalled Rory's biggest career achievement this year, one time AA.

Arguably, he has had more years with elite play, capturing 2016 17, 21, 22, 23.

So what were you having a tantrum about?

I said it wasn't that good, you're only prepared to call it decent. Is he top 10 or not?

In terms of our club's mount rushmore?

He's struggling to make the third team.
