The two things you've highlighted suggest Lady Luck isn't interested in Ross.
It's not easy to get to a gf, missing out on those two is tough.
True. Hawthorn kicked badly last week and got away with it, Freo did the same and it cost them.
Freo kicked atrociously last week also.
Playing McPharlin wasn't far behind. Butchered it all day and clearly wasn't 100%
I've long dismissed him, but even now I can admit he's clearly got the game plan to get teams there. His discipline alone will always punish the feeble and those who haven't turned up. That will ensure enough wins during the season.
By now though, it appears when someone else turns up (grand finals for example) the outcome can be never better than a coin toss because they'll never score enough to put a team away. It's always a luck situation and he still hasn't been lucky.
Blame bad kicking, but no one ever kicks 15 straight. Especially not in a pressure packed game with a strong breeze.

Two of the GF's were pretty much decided by the bounce of the ball , very very unlucky not to have won one by now.

It just highlights cattle is most important. Hawks , Geelong just had better lists.

He needs to attack more at times, surely blind Freddy can see. You have to kick a winning score to win on the big stage. His mantra is defence, plan A, defence plan B, and defence plan C. It was always keep you in a game but kicking a winning score doesn't seem to be high on his agenda.
"Have to lose one before you win one" is a bit of laugh innit? West Coast in 2006 the only team to do this really in recent memory.

realistically many of the Freo players didn't do enough, Ballantyne, Clarke, Mayne,Barlow and even Crowley.
As a tagger Crowley is just too negative unlike Ling or Cornes who do more with the ball
I don't think hid systems are to bad but in the G, there is more space and Freo at times lacked run. Pearce and Hill didn't do much either, Some of their players like Pav and McPharlin are starting to get too old to.
If it wasn't for umpires incompetence not paying holding the man a lot of this would not be allowed

Crowley kept Mitchell to 3 touches a quarter. Amazing effort. Under half his average for the last month or two.
But he should have kicked at least two goals I'll give you that.

not sure about Freo, they talk the week of before Geelong and didn't play week before Sydney on both tighter grounds that suited a more physical intense effort.
But they have genuinely improved. The question is can they get better. Moribito, Ibbotson.. who knows

yea but did Crowley v Mitchell have a better game? and how does this affect the rest of Freo's output
Ross Lyon coached teams have averaged 10 goals a game over 4 GFs, negative football like that doesn't deserve to win a premiership.

You sir are an idiot. You can prepare as much as you want, but at the end of the day who takes the kick, the player or the coach?
Selection? So when Pav missed that goal, are you saying he should of never been selected? Fyfe kicking it on the full, he shouldn't of been playing?

from a purist perspective 2005 and 2006 were joke GF's Geelong should have beaten Sydney in Sydney, like Carlton v Essendon 1999
