Who gives a ****?

If they were both available you'd take Lyon every time.

Love how the Bomber/Blues media are jumping on us after Ross rejected those snake pits.

Carlton have the Brownlow medalist + TWO Coleman medal winners and still missed finals.

Essendon's streak without a winning final is now old enough to legally drink.

We supposedly have; A poor board, terrible player development, no game plan, players who don't try and fractured leadership but will managed to win a final in 2020 and only just missed in 2022.

Imagine what's going to happen if we fix a few of those issues?

I come in peace.

Got to say after reading a few pages none of you campaigners seem that fired up, one way or another about the dumping of one coach and the reappointing of another bloke.

Surely someone should be burning the place down.

Sacked coaches at the Saints are like sunrises. No-one gets surprised any more. That and Ratts was not very good.

Purchase a RED Camera, whack a 300mm cinema lens on it - I want to see the spittle leave RTB's mouf. 4k will do

Do they have 4k cathode ray monitors in your Internet cafe?

Not sure exactly where it orginated however media outlets are running with it today. Apparently getting announced this week.

Harvey and Ross seem to me to be two different types of leaders so I hope it works out if Harvs is the one who will actually be appointed.

There's a few on the current staff who I think will probably go, namely Roughead...not sure how he fits anymore.
Roughead is a bit of an everyman at the club though.

I'll have a crack at the body language too, inner monologues...

Billings, "I hope there's a seat left at the back..."

Gresh, "Wow that was a big night... how did I even get here this morning?"

Marshall, "PUPPIES!"

Allison, "I can't believe someone thought I was the groundsman!"

Campbell, "Another hidden fart in a queue... you're so sneaky, Tom, hehehe"

Barlow was three times the player of Maine. Maine was a real Ross Lyon special. Hard working GOP that played above that level.
TL, DR: I and my extended Saints loving family, feel hope and passion again.

As others have mentioned, or expressed similar sentiments, my interest in STKFC and the upcoming years was dwindling. A few years of bottoming out at least meant some draft interest, but the middling, muddling mess we were under Richardson and Ratten had asphyxiated my passion for the club. Some good performances, some digrace.

Coupled with that — the inequities of the draw, losing rights to an academy player due to some new, baseless rule after other teams benefited for years and, in my opinion, a few tribunal decisions and outcomes that seemed weighted against us, had convinced me we were in a Sisyphean mode. Pushing * uphill.

To surmise, it sounded like the review run by Noble espoused for a coach with Ross Lyon qualities. Perhaps, Noble even identified him as the best available coach, we will find out soon with an Executive Summary from Bassat, as he stated in the presser.

(FYI, I had heard, not that I get much inside information, that Gil McLaughlin had basically told Bassett to get Noble to do the review—a couple of posters on here can verify that as we talk privately.)

Lyon was brilliant: “Foundations of long term success…Work ethic and desire, visions for the club…100% effort a 100% of the time…Football character…get a couple of drafts quickly and you stack them up…”

We have lacked all of these drivers, we have lacked football character and game sense.

I have been highly critical of the club in the last decade but today I feel a sense of us arriving, of using the sharpest scimitar available to cut to the crux of long, sustainable success.

I suspect we will have a succession plan in place in year two of the contract, as Lyon mentioned the Ireland/Roos model. I suspect this will be his last journey. I suspect and accept we may have to go back before we go forward.

But today I am back invested in the ‘journey.’

Watching that presser I could have cried, as there was a man as passionate about our club as I am, but he was in the position to empower it, whereas I am a nobody.

Come on Saints, even if you break my heart again, thanks for making us relevant again. Thanks to Bassat.

As I used to shout at our games as a teenager—“Go you *in Saints, just go.”
