People can't have it both ways though. We're impatient and demand finals so Lyon's job is on the line but we want the kids starting in the centre square?
Right now we’re having it neither way though? We’re not playing finals, to the point where some fans are alleging we’re tanking, but also we’re rushing back injured veterans, playing Sandilands, playing kids out of position, treading water with guys like Colyer instead of chancing it with younger players.

We’re doing the worst possible thing you can do - being dead average, but also not throwing all our efforts into youth development.

Everything was going well a month ago though. Surely people aren't suggesting that after 296 games as an AFL coach that Ross became incompetent?

Beat the Swans and we're a game outside the 8.

What the hell is a 'clear vision'?
To me, a clear vision would be along the lines of one of Cerra, Blakely, Brayshaw always being in for the center bounce. This would 'clearly' show that we are developing players to play the position that we have in mind for them for the future.
Sometimes you need to lose the battle to win the war.
Currently we're losing games with our 1st choice midfield so giving young guys exposure to the heat of battle can only be a good thing.
This is similar to 2015 (2nd half) when we were winning but not exposing kids, we fell off a cliff.
Ive been able to stomach poor results over the past couple of years, but slow exposure of kids is vital for long-term success.

For the lols above all else I want this to happen

Yeah we aren't playing kids.. Are you blind?

Fair enough.

I don't think you can do that without delaying a rebuild though. There's no reason why guys like Duman or Logue shouldn't be playing if they are fit and in ok form. They might not be officially 'best 22' every game but they are developing players who we should back in.

Same with someone like Cam McCarthy. We either have something to work with there and you play them or we don't.

Last week they had the guys from Champion Data on 3AW and they were saying that on raw stats Cam McCarthy is the second most improved player in the AFL this year. It just might be time to back the guy in.
I absolutely think you should play your B22 every week. Its pro sport and your customers (ie, us) and the league overall deserve nothing less.

And on that basis I don't understand how Cerra is getting a game at HB ahead either of Duman or Logue.

Or why Blakely isn't getting more midfield time and why Fyfe isn't spending more time at CHF during the absence of Hogan (while Fyfe is obviously a better midfielder than CHF the overall team is better served by having someone like Fyfe taking the senior KPD so Lobb and McCarthy get the 2nd/3rd KPDs).

To me these aren't B22 moves

Yeah we aren't playing kids.. Are you blind?
No Im not blind.
I thought I made the clear point that a clear plan would involve clearly putting youngsters into positions that the club sees them playing in the future. That's not to say that Cerra, Blakely and Brayshaw should make up the centre 3 every goal, but seeing them in there would show the club is exposing/developing them for the future.
I don't see this happening currently.
My reference to 2015 was that we didn't give any exposure to the kids, even though we were winning.
It was not a reference to not playing kids this year, if that's what your blind reference was alluding to.

How rude was that photographer today at today’s presser. Seriously why would they need a flash in a perfectly lit room, In the age of digital cameras no camera clicks like that these days, and why take a photo every 5 seconds it’s not like Ross was doing different things warranting another photo.

Looked like a set up from that gutter Tabloid newspaper the West Australian (no wonder print media is dying) trying to irritate Ross and sensationalise something that was run of the mill weekly press conference. Ross had a lot of patience letting it go on for as long as he did.

" FLASHER DISRUPTS LYON PRESSER " should get a few clicks though

So what do we do for the rest of the year? Play the fringe players and see if they have any upside or trade bait perhaps..give Fyfe a run up forward for the rest of the year I reckon. Maybe another of Banfield, Crowden, North, Valente, Bewley, Meek etc might make a name for themselves.

I would work on different structures and tactics, more so than playing fringe players. Forward 50 entries, other than bombing it to the hotspot, clearances that are clean and aggressive etc etc.

Having said that I want to see Blakely in the midfield and would like to see Banfield as an inside mid.

Don't know about Fyfe up forward for the rest of the year . Three things he is in my Fantasy team so not keen on that , But secondly he would still be a smokey for the Brownlow and that would cost him any chance. And third we still need to win as many games as possible .

Currently $5 for the Brownlow.

My interpretation is that dramatically changing structures and tactics would be equivalent to "coaching on the run", which very few coaches would be willing to do.

I’ll scoop a nice little earner if Fyfe wins the Brownlow and Cameron the Coleman but I’d rather see Fyfe plonked at FF and keep him out of the smash and bash of clearances for the rest of the year. Others are going to have to step up in his place or we are in the same boat next season.

We don’t need to win as many games as possible. We need to win as many as possible in 2020.

Was it Shane?

A clear vision that makes sense would be nice though.

Ross says we're still rebuilding and we rush but SHill and Sandi. It means that the words aren't matching the actions completely so I know that means I doubt the plan. Or that there is a clear plan.

It's a team game. There are lot's of players with little experience within this team. A couple getting a game is one thing, but a bucket load is another. SHill and Sandi may fail on the day with personal skills due to fitness, but they can inject a bit of leadership and experience and help those around them.

Hell, our defence has gone shizen since APearce went down injured, partly because of the lack of his skills, but we are looking disorganised down there without him. Might be dreaming, but I thought Rossco said that Hill will be defence and Blakey released to midfield (which in turn allows Fyfe some time to go forward)? Put's some seniors into our defence and forward line and hopefully makes them a bit more organised.

IMO, Hamling seems to direct traffic better than Pearce. Which would make sense since he has played more games, and has won a premiership. The defence is struggling because the midfield is just far too experienced and putting the defenders under pressure.

To make thins worse, the running backs (Wilson, Ryan) seem to have lost all confidence in the gameplan, and are just booting the ball long. Absolutely, Blakely must go into the midfield. Along with Mundy, Conca, and Walters.

This weekend we are down to 3 experienced "true" midfielders with over 100 games: Hill, Mundy and Conca. Walters is getting moved there to plug gaps, which is a necessity, but he isn't to me a true midfielder. Then we have Langdon and Tucker on around 60 games each, followed by Brayshaw and Cerra on 30 odd. With rotations, we will be lucky to have 2 experienced midfielders on the park. Sydney will destroy us.
