Well Mike Sheehan had him at number 4 and I would say any of those top 10 players he listed are all pretty close in class, skill and value to their club.

You guys were just so desperate to get a big name at your club after 6 years of some of the worst football sides in history, you payed way over the mark for him and now one would think you will pay for that mistake for a very long time.

I'm not trying to be a prick about it I'm just stating the obvious. There's about 9 or 10 other guys just as good or valuable as Judd that are being paid half of what he is. So instead of having one player that calibre, a couple of other clubs have two or three

Mike Sheehan hehehehehehe yes you win, i guess if you and mike say so then thats all there is to it

WOW what a truly pathetic thread this is.

I have read everything from Carlton and North supporters arguing who could give more for Roughy that degenerated into a who's side will be better in 2 years to how if Roughy wanted to walk the Hawks would be forced to trade or get nothing as GFC would get him for free.

I've also read about how the Hawks need a ruck and KPP backman. We have plenty of rucks on our list, just injured. Come the end of the year we could have as many as 4 realistic ruckmen to pick from and 2 back up if needed. As far as KPP backman if it becomes that desperate why not put Roughy down back and voila KPP backman. Leaves forward line more open for Buddy and with a host of small forwards at his feet could work very well. And if this silly little Carlton flog that started this OP suggests that it would be ridiculous to take a FF capable of kicking 75 goals in a season tp the backline is stupid, then i will ask how did it work out for SOS?

Biggest load of drivel i've read for quite some time.

Fact is both Roughy and Buddy are currently in negotiations for new contracts and the Hawks have plenty in their salary cap to make realistic decent offers. If the want to chase money they will end up at GFC or WSFC as both these new clubs could offer a truck load more money than Carlton could, even with Visy sponsorships, which mind you will be a lot harder to come by now a certain Visy president has passed on. Also this drivel of Roughy walking from the Hawks for nothing???? Why would he do that???? He has had a premiership with this side and he has the same choice as a lot of other players not just from Hawthorn. Chase the money or chase success and the benefits that provides.

I also loved the idiot that was talking about Hawthorns trading record with other clubs, seriously Burgoyne, Gibson and even a draft pick from Essendon for Williams. Traded McGlynn and Kennedy to Sydney for draft picks and that's 4 clubs that dealt with the Hawks that i thought of in about 5 seconds. Funny thing was the Gibson trade was the first trade of trade week. Not bad for a club that no-one wants to deal with.

Simple facts are Roughy is most likey to stay at the Hawks. If he goes anywhere it will be to GFC for money and Carlton would be forced to give up too much at the trade table for him and thus wouldn't happen. Oh if he walks for free cr$p. GFC can only sign one uncontracted player per club and that club has to be compensated by the AFL. Wasn't Cambell Brown that player??? Or was this more Big Footy nonsense.

End Rant.

Only problem with your proposed trade is that Kruezer is worth twice that of Roughy ...one of our lesser rucks and possibly Thornton would seal the deal considering how ordinary the Hawks are in defence and Rucks .

Hawks have been chasing Thornton for years now ..but they don't have the capacity to get trades done ..nobody trusts them ..and theres a reason for that .
You are living in dreamland if you think that would be enough.

We were interested in Thornton before Gilham came through and we got Gibson. Why the hell would we want him now.
