You could put together a pretty impressive highlights package for Colin Sylvia too, just don't tell the viewer the 5 minutes is a compilation of the past 10 years. Video clips are nice but I wouldn't put much stock in them.

That, except I would have Michie in for Evans I think.

Been a long time between drinks for my posting, so long that i forgot my password.
...Back to newbie status I go

Feeling as if Michie and Fitzy are getting way too much love on this thread for where they realistically are at. I have a bad feeling that they may just be Magner/Stef Martin #2

On a more positive note, Kent is a lock on a wing for mine. The run and carry that the kid has for a 19 year old is great and we need all the pace we can get through the middle.

Interesting suggestion. Don't know if he's silky enough to hold down a wing position by himself, but from memory he's certainly not scared of trying to find his own footy.

I really haven't seen enough of Vince to be sure of this, but I imagine him on one wing and Watts/Howe working the other. I really love seeing Watts on the wing. I know lots of people want him up forward though. But I remember one kick where he just absolutely drilled a 50m pass to Sylvia: it was perfectly weighted and Sylvia ran on to it and kicked forward. Against the Swans IIRC.

Nah, Viv is a skillful player.

The reason he went late in the draft was because he was one of those specialist medium forward pockets, Freo have turned him into a mid.

I do like Kent though.

He's definitely not the silkiest of players, but he's still a kid. Just seems the only way he makes anybodys round one team is in a forward pocket, and someone that quick who gets out in space and finds a bit of their own ball seems a little wasted in a pocket..

Yeah it's a good point. As mentioned earlier named positions count for little these days, and I don't see any reason why Kent can't rotate through the wing.

How do you guys think Trenners will go this year with the additions we've picked up?

I'm of the opinion that he's gonna struggle this year, not because of captaincy, but because he's coming from a long way back and the pressure for his position will be ramped up with the additions of Tyson, Vince, Michie and Cross.

Thoughts? Opinions?

It means we now have the luxury of playing him in the 2's for a little so he can get his hands on the pill again

He'll be right - generally players perform better when there is less load on their shoulders.

Not vice versa.

IF he can get a full pre season in (injury free) am hopefully we will see a big improvement from him .

I'm hopeful we'll see big improvement from him even if he doesn't get a full pre-season!

Yep - Trengove had to be super unselfish this season diving into every pack and contest and laying tackles left, right and centre. Now that we have more genuine inside ball winners he can hopefully find a bit more time and space and actually be given the ball for once, and use his very classy disposals and clean hands to effect. Hopefully he can swing forward a bit more like he did in 2010 and 2011 and take some grabs and kick goals. Is a very good mark.

B Terlich - Frawley - Garland
HB Grimes - McDonlad - Toumpas
C Vince - Tyson - Viney
HF Watts - Dawes - Trengove
F Hogan = Clark - Kent (The superman line)
R Jamar/Gawn - Jones - Cross
Int Michie - Howe - Dunn
Sub Blease

On the bench I've got a mid and forward and a back and both Howe and Dunn can other positions too.
The HFF'ers and HBF'ers are all mids these days so Watts pushes up to the wing and Howe patrols the other one.

Mckenzie for Dunn is an option and Fitzy as 2nd ruck if Clark won't be doing it. This will shuffle the team around a bit also pushing Dunn out.

Viney on the wing just means he will be out of the centre bounce first up. Mids can rotate out through the game to stay fresh.

Evans Mckenzie M jones along with Fitz are on the cusp.

Terlich and Toump will need to perform or Clisby might take their spot.

Draft picks not taken into consideration here at all.

Once Cross has played a year Viney plays Rover and let's say Freeman goes onto the wing.

And if we never get an injury we might win on occasion.

And Hogan is superman.

I like the idea of Toumpy off a back flank next year, get him a bit more involved hopefully.
Yeah I like that, let him find his feet there.

I'm also looking forward to having midfielders being able to rest forward without completely going cold and losing touch. There should be the likes of Trengove, Vince, Jones, Tyson, whoever rotating through a HFF position, and unlike previously they should still be some use there.

I would love a 5 minute Sylvia highlights vid, the longest I've seen posted on the Freo board is 46 seconds long and one of the highlights is against GWS

In regards to MIchie, obviously you will have to wait to find out but I've never been more certain of a guy who has played half a career game in 3 years becoming a dead set star, frankly it's a bit insulting to compare him to Magner. Viv is a genuinely classy player and even though it's not at Freo I'm glad he'll be given the chance to show his wares at AFL level :thumbsu:
