Yikes it’s an opinion based forum. Imagine asking everyone to own up when they get an opinion wrong on here lol.

I have read some of yours at times and they havent been correct but that’s cool as well.
Don't hide behind that lame, BS argument. When you vehemently argue a point and are wrong, you need to own up to it.

Wait a sec... Hawthorn starts the year off by kicking the butt of a highly-tauted top 4 team and the AFL respond by pulling the plug on the season half way through the game? Talk about an over-reaction. :p

So far only Hutchy fancied the Hawks on revealed form. Had Brissy won they'd be definitely described as in the picture

People seem to enjoy trashing O'Brien. It was the first game of the year. He kicked an important goal, was excellent in congestion to notice Wingers free up fwd for an open goal. Also excellent handball to free up another goal. He's definitely got a good forward line brain. And he's competitive when the ball hits the deck. He'll clunk them like last season.... A bit of patience. His spot is under threat from Lewis but Lewis is also still very much learning his craft too. I hope both excell.
In reference to the whole best 22 convo I actually think it’s more important to have a best 25-26. Yes 3-4 guys will miss out every now and then but with things like injuries, suspensions and form slumps it’s definitely important to a team’s success to have those 3-4 guys that can fill the void at any given time. IMO I think Clarko’s best 22 changes game to game depending on matchups. Some games we might need to go taller in the forward line to stretch teams defences and there’s times we’ll have to do the opposite with our defence.

Spots are only going to get tougher once Dimma, Impey, Mitch, Howe and others become available which isn’t a bad thing. Guys that fail to make that best 25-26 will make for good trade bait in the offseason. This is hopefully how we can fill the teams deficiencies especially with our need for pressure forwards.

That ball drop has been with him since he was drafted although it seems more pronounced than his early days.. He is a good solid midfielder, nothing more, which is fine but it’s something many here need to accept. With that said he is a good piece to plonk next to Titch and Worps, seriously look out when Finn gets some games under him.

Yeah agree. Perhaps in his younger days with his breakaway speed etc he was able to get out in the clear a bit more which didn’t highlight this as much.

Calm yourself down please. There is a lot more serious things happening at the moment in case you haven’t noticed.

Stratts did well on the weekend and so he should. He is our captain. After some of the embarrassing situations last season he needs a big year.

It wasn’t really an opinion though was it? The amount of comments posted re the matchup were basically stated as fact.

Cameron will tear him to shreds..

Cameron will kick 5 on him...

Stratts is past it and will be killed...

Stratts to him to the ****** cleaners. One of his goals he was running into an open goal square and soccered it from a meter out.

The other was an errant snap that fell into his lap.

He was brilliant

He played well as is expected from our club captain. Fabulous stuff.
After the mess of last season we are all hoping he is in for a big season.

This is BigFooty, a place for fans to state their opinions, analysis and general talk.

If everyone who got an opinion wrong had to "own up to it", then this forum would be called 'BigBacktrack' and would become boring as batshit as everyone would be too scared to say anything, and everyone would be come a yes-man.

If you've ever worked with people who are yes-men, then you'll know how insufferable they can be.

Yes, there were some who were fearful of how Stratts was going to go on Carmeron, but it was based on form from last season and the preseason. It was justified fear.

The form didn't matchup with the end result. It happens.

How many apologies did you see from all the once-a-year punters who recommended others in the field when the 100/1 Prince of Penzance won the Cup? There weren't many, because the form didn't match the end result.

Stratton and co got a hold of Cameron in the air and with body positioning.
Cameron has better speed than Stratts , but the backline was able to nullify his marking ability.

there are opinions, and then there is LMR being a campaigner. This one doesn't slide.

Imagine the chest beating if Cameron kicked 4+? BS needs to be called out. The forum is better with well reasoned arguments, not people hiding behind "opinions" and pretending to state facts. No one will be right all the time, but we can understand how they came to a point. LMRs constant crap provides nothing.

Yes good summary. Nobody has denied this occurred.

What Mr Premiership is having a hissy fit over is trying to prove who said Cameron would be too quick for Stratts and get hold of him in the lead up when we were talking about the upcoming game.

Obviously those that held that opinion on Bigfooty need to put their hands up and apologise to someone..... Maybe Mr Premiership.

I won’t hold him accountable for when he predicted that despite everything going on, he said we will still have a 23 game season, scrap the bye rounds and play regularly mid week games to get the full season completed.

It was his opinion..... It was proven wrong with what unfolded but it was his opinion.

Who the hell chest beats when an opp player kicks a bag and so what if Stratts gets called out for having a bag kicked on him.........
and LMR is a campaigner?

It is like everything on this board. People overreact to individual quarters of football every week and howl about selection decisions over fringe players like that make some enormous difference between winning and losing. Half the board wrote us off after two practice games and called for Stratton to be sacked as captain and not best 22 etc. It isn't the opinions that are the problem, it is the dogmatic adherence to those opinions and the indignation when opinions are questioned that drags this board down into the dirt time and time again.

Do you think this board is one bit different to the other 17 boards?

It provides an opportunity for people to have an opinion. This is exactly like talk back radio that runs 24 hours a day and a little like social media. Who the feck really cares who or what people’s opinion is or if they are proven correct or incorrect.

Over the years recruiting of Omeara, Wingard, Mitchell, Hale, Lake, Gibson etc has polarised the board and everyone has had an opinion.

Imagine digging that all up to prove a point?
Who cares?
It’s a free country, let it roll and move on I say.
