Lobb’s hole has been filled by Jackson * cough *, and although not as quite as good - Mundy’s by O’Meara.

Treacy and Sturt looked pretty good too, along with Taberner in the praccy.

Unfortunately I think our injury list is the point of difference here, but if anyone is capable of a St Kilda Stumble, it’s Freo 😂
Those guys are decent enough replacements but they haven't played for them yet. Might take them some time to get going.

I think it will mainly come down to the midfield; Windy doing a job on Brayshaw would be very helpful. He killed us last time.

Always found it bizarre that Ratten never really backed him in the midfield.

He ended 2020 really promising with a few stints in there.

Round 1 2021 he was terrific as a mid then only got limited time the following week and barely played there again all year.

It’s not as though we haven’t been crying out for young mids to come through.

Hopefully Hayes and Lyon can get the best out of him. Only worry for me is if we end up too slow with Clark, Steele and Crouch
As the team was huddled at the start of the game for their breathing exercise he added a 4th deep breath so Ratten put a line through him.

I'm going to assume the worst that Windhager and Ross are out for Rd 1. Would leave us with 10 players unavailable through injury. Pretty brutal way to start the season. Predicting a 23 something like this.

If Windy and Ross are fit, I think Bytel and Byrnes go out. Stocker becomes the sub. Although I'm not 100% convinced the Saints will go all of Steele, Crouch, Ross and Windy in the same 23...

Tim Membrey probably won't be fit in time for round 1 either.

I like the team posted aabove, but I would swap Jack SInclair and Hunter Clark.

I'm guessing Caminiti will be in then.

You would think so and possibly Sharman too if we are without Membrey as well as King.

According to the news reports here last night Freo look like they will be at full strength so they will go in as favourites and have no excuses if they lose.

I think Ross will relish the thought of us going in as undermanned underdogs though and he is a master of pulling off upsets against stronger opposition.

Just got my tickets, wasn't sure how many games I was gonna be able to get to this year so that's a positive start. Pumped for footy to be back

Are members tickets released already?

Don’t have to worry about the stadium selling out though 😂

I didn't see the email. I'll have to chase it up. They usually come out the week before each game and you have to book. ****ing pain in the arse.

Well it's hard to believe the new season is about to begin, obviously we're looking vulnerable early on, hopefully we can hang in there and pinch a couple of early wins to set us up for later in the year. I'd be pretty happy being 2-2 after the first four, particularly as it looks like we could easily be 0-2 to start the season. Thought I'd have a go at next weeks team, I've probably forgotten a couple but here we go...

B.Webster, Howard, Wilkie
HB. Sinclair, Battle, Wang
C. Hill, Crouch, Wood
HF. Gresham, Membrey, Higgins
F. Butler, Caminiti, Owens
R. Marshall, Steele, Clark
IC. Ross, Windhager, Sharman, Pou, Cordy
EM. Byrnes, Bytel, Van Es

*Not terribly impressed with myself including the Cordenheimer but they'll stretch us with their height and he probably needs to play this one.

*A fully fit Nat Fyfe up forward worries me, think we have to sacrifice Wilkie there.

*If Membrey doesn't get up then Sharman it is and our forward line is officially decimated.

*It's looks unlikely as he wasn't used at all last week (which I must say still mystifies me) but I've included Sharman on the bench instead of Paton just for the extra height.

*This is the sort of game Luke Jackson should be absolutely tearing apart.

*Have just heard Windy is in doubt, Bytel to come in if he doesn't get up.

It's looking like Freo will be at full strength, just can't see how we win this one with the team we'll have to put out. I'd say that if we do somehow manage to win it will be on the back of a coaching masterclass from the Boss and the Boys. I mean look at that forward line (or any vague variation thereof), not really the sort of thing you'd expect to be seeing in the AFL. In fact we look a bit undersized all over the field. 😳

Marshall has a huge tank but is gonna be cooked long term.

Yeah a lot rides on Roma staying fit this season (touchwood!). If he goes down for any length of time, well we're plainly in trouble. He's gonna need some help in there at some stage as well, getting smashed into by two rucks every week for long periods will shorten his career otherwise.

Tom Campbell is very capable backup
