What about playing players where they were drafted? DGB down back and serong to slowly take over the throne of the third tall role from gunners? Reckon it sounds good .

Because players evolve.

Is this a joke??

Poor way to ‘promote’ the rivalry and Round 1 game.

If your team drug cheats up the ladder only to implode in form when the drugs stop, then you don’t get your medals back a decade later.
I thought mike retired a long time ago…should have stayed retired.

actually thought this was a pretty good crack at our B22

Not a bad effort.

Thought he was a bit optimistic on our forward line though. I'm still very much taking a "suck it and see" approach on how it will go.

I do agree with his comment that selection will be based on merit next year, we don't need to be gifting games anymore.

This is the team we named against Freo in the last game of 2022.

My early stab at a best 22 for round one, with ins and outs:

B: Jack Scrimshaw, James Blank, James Sicily
HB: Karl Amon, Blake Hardwick, Jarman Impey
C: Chankouth Jiath, Josh Ward, Conor Nash
HF: Jack Gunston, Mitch Lewis, Connor Macdonald
F: Luke Breust, Mabior Chol, Jack Ginnivan
R: Ned Reeves, James Worpel, Jai Newcombe
I: Josh Weddle, Will Day, Finn Maginness, Dylan Moore

Ins: Jiath, Gunston, Lewis, Chol, Ginnivan
Outs: Morrison, Serong, Koschitzke, Hustwaite, Ryan

Mackenzie, Seamus, Butler, Watson or DGB could easily find their way into this side if they really use their weapons during the preseason.

Only 2 have left? Lewis and Chol the easiest ins

Yep. I personally see CJ in that category too. Take him out and I think there's a bit of a speed deficit.

Hope to see all three of them back training with the main group in January.

I honestly have no idea on our round 1 team
Small forward: Ginnivan, Watson and an old fella in Bruest. Probably 3-4 spots, but you gotta add in
Moore, McDonald, Butler flying early and potentially Hardwick if he’s training up forward (without knowing reason why)
Mid/tall forwards Lewis a lock, Chol too. Gunston? Probably, our does DGB have a preseason that screams take notice.

That’s about 8 players that seem genuinely capable of playing round 1

Mids: Worpel, newc, Nash and Day seem our starting 4. WRd train8n with them, hopefully McKenzie too. Stephens will want to push his case. Husthwaite got a chance, whilst I think McDonald would like a role somewhere here too.
Wings: most had Ward amd Amon as our starters, but Ward train8n as in inside mid, whilst Amon it’s been suggesting will be a halfback. So, Weddle? CJ? Could McDonald or a butler take these spots? Of Finn?

Backs:
Blank v frost forKPD, Sicily floats, Hardwick stops . Then there Scrimshaw, CJ, S Mitchell, seeromg as options. If amon does go back, means another spot gone

Honest, it’s so good but I have no idea
Really trying to make Dimma a forward.

It seems that if Ned can dominate centre taps, opponents centre square weaponry is nullified a bit and we can really load up on speed/skill on the outside.
An illustration of this is finn hardly ever goes to the centre square, but his ‘target’ does. Then finn runs with after.

If opponents then get the better of Ned on the outside what then? If the opponent is a better gut runner does someone like Weddle go to him?

Draper destroyed us in round 1 this year and they simply outran us all over the ground.

1 ruck with Chol as the secondary ruck for 7-10 min chunks per quarter.
Round 1 was embarrassing, expecting a response
Yes it truly was, I was despondent, I even microwaved my Richmond membership after that.

Yeah the easiest way to spark a response is to remind players what happened 363 days ago.
