I would be happy if they gave Frost the Jonny Hay directive - when you win the ball, just run and roost the ****ing ball as far as possible to a contest. Don't think...DO!

All the "Frost-ball" moments we were cursing were when he tried to be 'creative'...with an errant chip kick or handball that seemed to inevitably cost us on turnover.

He wins contests, has pace, and beats his man as a defender worthy of a start...but we are at the point where the mistakes MUST be eliminated if we want to become a contending team

Our small forwards would love this

He has had many chances.

Hardwick - Blanck - Sicily

Ward - Nash - Amon

Moore - Lewis - Gunston
Ginnivan - Chol - Breust

Reeves - Day - Newcombe

Worpel - Watson - McDonald - CJ
Very good. Frost and Maginness are the ones the coaches may be tempted to crowbar into this side when considering the opposition. I also get the feeling that although Mackenzie plays a different position, he might have an impressive summer and demand selection ahead either Watson/Ginnivan.

I like this team. It has a winning look to it.

Having said that, 10 weeks of pre-season including some scratch games lie ahead. There are bound to be injuries during that period as well as players who demand selection by their performances on the track and in the scratch games.

Why are people still putting Amon on the wing. Clear and consistent club message he is playing at half back.

Newspaper line ups have no moving parts.

Sams whiteboard formations will have multiple moving parts.

Besides being in a position at a centre square bounce, line ups have little to no resemblance of the formation being played.

I’d be surprised if Watson starts Rd 1 unless he knocks it out of the park in pre season. I think McDonald will take that resting forward/midfield rotation spot and McKenzie will be in the starting lineup.

I'm beginning to see that it could be part of Maginness to play that medium/small defender role. Even when he has a run-with role, it rarely lasts the whole game. He needs a position if he's going to become more than a fringe role-player.
During training, Finn has been training with the defenders - he did that role at Box Hill earlier this season too

CJ will play wing. Sam really wants to play Dimma forward.

Hardwick as a forward doesn’t really make any sense. At least not now. Butler is having a good pre-season so far and could be best 22 next year, Watson & Ginnivan coming in, plus Bennetts and O’Sullivan in the reserves. We have good small forward depth for the first time in three years. Hardwick is too good of a defender to move away from that defensive 50. I do like the idea of Jiath on the wing.

Agreed. He should have played there last year when we were crying out for forwards. To play him forward when we now have numerous options makes no sense.

It seems to make sense to Sam Mitchell.

He was tried there several times towards to end of the season.
