Bit worried that we didn't seem to improve on the major issues from last season - F50 efficiency and stoppage work. Slow, one paced mids ain't going to get us anywhere. Ross shouldn't be playing more than 10 games this year.

Still can't kick a winning score either. 6 goals with 24 minutes gone in the 4th quarter is pathetic.

To be fair, forward efficiency was quite good. We got smashed in I50s, which was either a transition out of back half issue (usually a strength) or directly beaten in the guts (midfield, Groundhog Day here)

We had 6 goals with about 5 minutes left in the game.

That’s what I’m saying. It’s a bit sad we don’t have the depth. Was more a rhetorical question.

All the depth is roughly similar quality so the team will not get stronger no matter who we bring in (with respect to the midfield)
We have depth. It’s injured.

I think it’s time we start lining up with a full time tagger.

You can cut Windys teeth in similar to Steele.

I think Windy started tagging Holmes halfway through the third quarter. He was on 18 disposals. Only finished with 23. But was very influential prior to that.
If Windy doesn't go straight to Daicos on Thursday, weve failed. Got to put someone on him to give ourselves a chance.

Agree, but we went at 63% efficiency inside 50 which says forward efficiency wasn’t the issue. The issue was just getting in there which is the issues above (defensive transition because numbers were back, skill errors/turnover and beaten in the coalface/guts/midfield)

Maybe but that takes out some of our speed. Might even put Steele on it as he prooved he coud still rack up possessions. Something needs to change that's for sure.

I watched the game and didn't think Seb was that bad, didn't notice him doing anything that poor and we know he has the legs to run out a game. Thought it was strange that Crouch didn't get sent off, he had no influence on the game.

Most has been covered well so not got much different.

Can only play two out of Steele, Crouch, Ross, Clark. With Steele the only one guaranteed ie only out for injury.

Good debut by Wilson and club debut for Henry.

RoMa still a conundrum. Not going to change from him but hopefully we can trade/draft a couple of elite centre clearance players to make his elite around the ground work not be so offset by his poor tap work at centre bounce.

Finally a few have said it but it shouldn't be understated after travelling down to Geelong over the past 35 years. That was the biggest St Kilda crowd I've ever seen down there and they were the loudest I've ever heard at an away regular season game (excluding marvel games). I'm as impatient as anyone but I really feel that we're on a great path and the supporters will play a massive part in getting this team wins when not expected this year.
Tha Saints crowd were pretty loud at times. Could hear it on the coverage. It was great.

There has to be an inquest into the amount of red time goals we concede

It's Ross' 200 game. As much as there isn't/shouldn't be sentimentality in football, I can't see us starting him as sub for this one.
Got absolutely shown up against a worse midfield then what he will be lining up against on Thursday.

Would be terrible to sub him after 2 1/2 quarters and then start him again Thursday against a dynamic group of pies mids

From what l saw last night Windy is absolutely ready for full time midfield duty and Henry as part of the rotations. Throw Chito in there a bit more and Pou a bit less, and that will offer us a fair bit.
Ross looks close to done. Time to move on.
I just think its all needed to give each of them time at different stages. If we have pou, Wilson, Henry, Owens and Windy who can all rotate into the midfield then we are goign to be much stronger.

JB third third ranked player on the ground in the Dees game. No Sincs, no Gresh, no Billings maybe we actually missed them?
Billings will do well at the Dees because of who is around him and can play within his scope and without being looked at for leadership, he was pretty much our longest listed player last year.

Reading alot about the umpires, not sure if people watched much footy outside our game but it’s been abhorrent all round, the Carlton Richmond game was diabolical. If anything I’d say ours wasn’t too bad comparatively.
Spoke to a Collingwood supporter today that really knows his footy..reckons our game was one of the worst he’s seen!
