Hated

Umpires

Disliked

RTB coaching moves
namely
Subbing Ross for Collard
Overbenching Steele in the second half

Few of our players not match fit ready or rusty compared to the opposition levels

Cats intensity better for longer

Higgins kicking (effort was good tho)
Byrnes being outrun

Liked

Marshall and Steele - Both fantastic

I agree with whoever said we have a much higher ceiling.

When the fixture came out - I always thought and said this was a brutal game to open up.

At Marvel or the G? We would win.

At this hell hole of a cake tin shaped s**t hole. The Cats are triple the side.

Tipping a 0-2 start.

I reckon we'll be 2-7 before hitting an improving North and the Hawks. Reckon we could legit win 8 or 9 games for the year based on tonight. We'll lose more than we'll win if that's how we play.

And the cherry on top of this shit sundae? I wait half my life for Joel Selwood to **** off out of footy, and the first game we play after his retirement? Gotta listen to him slurring his lines on the broadcast. Yeah, I know.. Take it easy on him, he'll be in a retirement home in 5 years time... But couldn't we get a little bit of time without him on the broadcast?

Disappointing loss, but to go down by only 8 points in Geelong with so many players well below their best and quite a few injuries isn’t the end of the world.

Crouch, Wood, King, Ross were all well below their best tonight.

Throw in the fact that we played two debutants and there is plenty of upside.

Geelong on the other hand with pretty much their full list barely managed to beat us. They have more to worry about than us.

Him, Lingy and the Saints hater Darcy.

Experience wins...just.
First round, and a big ask to play down there. I'll hold off and wait to see what happens in the next two rounds.
King 2.4, and burning his own players a couple of times. He needs to do better.
Higgins...I just don't know.
Owens kicking for goal was f*cking awful.
We were in it, and could have won it. We're just not composed enough, and skills are still questionable.
Henry, Bonner, Nas, and Wilson...impressive.

19 less inside 50s was going to be stealing it.

2-2 before we get stomped by the giants in round 5 at Manuka.

Get to 4-4 and from round 9 to 13 we have a big chance to get to 8-5.

I actually thought King was pretty good. More of a presence about him and a little more aggressive about him. Good debut by Wilson, seems like a player that will play in the team for most of the year.
I felt so sorry for Collard, he positioned himself well to get the ball on numerous times but teammates burnt him.
Henry, Marshall, Byrnes and Steele had great games. Sharman is a complete liability down back.. please never again.

Also more speed in the midfield please. Crazy when we put in Henry in the last few minutes we started attacking more instead of the same slow react mids of Phillipou and Crouch.

Can't see us beating anyone except maybe the bottom 4 sides if that's how we are going to play. Horrible to watch and lacking skills.
What a strange game, we fumbled badly all night, made some very poor decisions under pressure, had the worst of the umpiring and yet we still had a chance to win down at Geelong. I’m not sure what to make of tonight but Wilson was impressive and collard might have had a goal on debut with an ounce of luck and is lightening quick so I’ll take that as a positive.

King?!

Fantastic tonight.

Personally I'm mentally preparing for another year of your drivel 😍

3 appalling umpiring decisions in the first half of the last quarter sucked the life out of us when we had a run-on. Like the rest I've learned to accept bad umpiring, but the number of times they decided the outcome of games if a disgrace on the competition.
The weight of evidence is too great. It's just what the AFL want.

8-9 seems reasonable.

If you take out last year's start which was an anomaly, we are basically a 50/50 proposition each week.

A slow start could see us really capitulate. Soft AF mentally, won't take much for the year to go real pear shaped.

Yes mentally soft is what I learned from us coming from 24 points down late 😴
