Question...the unfurling of the flag.
Will this be with the players out on the ground before they get into position?
My memory does not go back as far as 2011 round 1 lol
Just need to know what time to leave the pub
Was in Rd 3 actually against Carlolton who we the pumped. Was there and it was a glorious night and it was before the players came out.

I would like to persist with Dean for this week. I think it was an incredibly tough assignment on Hogan tonight. He will be better for the run and should be more comfortable next week against. In saying that, I was shocked it was not Moore taking that match up on Hogan.

it is tough on Markov & Hosk who weren't terrible tonight, however we need more size and strength in the air (naturally Howe comes back) and you just need to find a place for Macrae to come in.

WHE was pretty good

AJ needs to spend a lot of time in the twos. Playing him again will only dent his confidence.

Reef needs some time in the 1’s to get used to the pace and his team mates. We can’t judge him after one outing. I’d also prefer to try him another position, if the forward line doesn’t work out. Give him some time in the middle, or even half back.

So, if selected, we can't judge McInnes after one game, but apparently it's open slather to do so on Johnson.... gotcha.

It's the improvement from Johnson on the back of a strong pre-season that people were hoping to see, not a game out of the box. 2 possessions in a game where every GWS big forward kicked goals was too disappointing to overlook. McInnes is almost certainly not the right fit to fill a forward big man hole, but he is the only one (Kreuger injured) left worth trialling.

Improvement has been on show all summer and he was clearly who the coaches thought could fill the role. He had a poor game. It happens. Deserves the chance to redeem himself. I’m a McInnes fan but he’s no greater certainty so rather than go off half cocked I’d prefer to see Johnson given time. McInnes will get his opportunity.

Personally, I think they’re both more suited to a 3rd tall role but that’s not something we can orchestrate given the absence of McStay and Kreuger (who I think is a better KPF prospect than both).

Spot on with your comprehension.

Let me articulate it for you a bit more clearly.

Ash is 26 or thereabouts, Reef 21. Ash has played 35 games and Reef 11.

Neither will come into the side as a focal point or prime mover, even though we need them to be. So we need somebody to play a team role.

Reef will at least go at it, AJ has been dropping marks and needs some time in the VFL. Reece has spent plenty of time in the VFL and could do with some exposure at AFL to see if he’s can realise some of his upside.

Pretty simple stuff, one will benefit from some exposure at AFL level, the other will benefit from some time at VFL level.

Selection will be made on the basis of beating Sydney. It could be that neither AJ or Reef are selected.

The absence of Murphy & Howe was on full view against GWS, they have a great system in place with Moore, touch wood Murphy returns asap & they can all reunite to limit high opposition scores 🤞🏻

Personally I think we’re better off forgetting about Murphy for now. We can’t assume he’s going to chose to play on. And even if he does, we certainly can’t assume that he’ll go back to being the swashbuckling player we’ve seen in the past.

Dean played as well as can be expected for a first game player, we need to give him time to develop. Howe isn’t going to be around forever.

And if Murphy does come back, and is an effective player, then that’ll be a nice surprise.

Age has absolutely nothing to do with this weeks selection decision.

I wouldn’t put it in the same words…..but largely agree. I think a better way to say it is, Murphy will be back when he’s back, anD until then there’s no point speculating or complaining that he’s missing. In the meantime it’s up to Dean and maybe Frampton to fill the void. It’s also reasonable to assume Howe will need to be managed all year.

How do our rucks match up on Brodie Grundy. Interesting that Brodie was so physical against Gawn. Does he use same tactics against Cameron and Cox.
