Gee, you've got a much bigger opinion of Wallis, Liberatore, Stevens, Boyd and Cooney on one leg, and a few other no names than I have, excluding Griffen of course.

  • Griffen is top 10 in the league
  • Libber is the most promising clearance player in the comp
  • Cooney is back to his best
  • Stevens has shown great preseason form, as has Macrae
  • Dalhaus will spend time there - a quality player
  • Wallis will be a useful tagger, and Boyd will still contribute
Maybe i was being a bit bullish, but I stand by my claim that their midfield is better than ours.

Our talls are far, far better though - I still think we'll win.

Yep, you're on the money I think.

I like their mids, both young and old.

Add Macrae as well - who looks a star in the making, but a few years off being there.

Libba is better than any of our inside players, Griffen better than any of our outside.
We have better depth and now a great level of flexibility which they don't have, but they have a very good top 3-4 mids.

This game we just should not lose, if we lose it'd only be because we lacked hunger and application which would be a massive concern for rd 1.
I think the bulldogs are a solid team, but at home they shouldn't get close, no team until Geelong should, and if we're not top or top 4 after round 3 it would indicate that the level of desire is not there for some, and indicate that a SWIFT kick up the *** is in order.

Let's just pray that Hutchi gets a game then. Has done everything right to be a starter (but then again, he did that last season and didn't get the games he was earning).

I just hope this GLUE isn't seen as a supplement...

I'm still not convinced that Naitanui will play and based on comments from Simpson after the Freo scratchie if Nicnat does play his time in the ruck may be minimal.

Either of these two scenarios opens the door for either Lycett or Sinclair to get a game - my tip would be Lycett because of the two he is a better ruck and would be needed to support Cox.

Yeah its looking that way...but at least it does not look as daunting as last year when Nic nat was not ready till round 6. If Nic nat is not 100% and any risk of re-injuring then leave him out and let Sinclair or Lycett come in.

Bulldogs are a good team to leave him out (they only have Minson) - infact the first 2 game a good (saints have very poor rucks), then give him a decent run in rd 3 and hopefully he's raring to go against Geelong.

Luckily we kill them in every other area.

It's ok. Stevens, Wallis and Boyd aren't going to do much damage though. Dalhaus in the middle is good for us as he's a better forward. Cooney better than 3 years ago but not at 2008 level. Griffen and Libba the two to worry about.

WEST Coast ruckman Nic Naitanui will play four quarters in the Eagles' intra-club match on Friday night and is expected to play round one against the Western Bulldogs, according to coach Adam Simpson.

The 2012 All Australian made a successful return from his groin issues last Thursday in the Eagles' 19-point practice match win over Fremantle at Patersons Stadium.

The 23-year-old will ramp up his preparations this week after getting through the game unscathed.

"He pulled up well. Good enough to train yesterday and perform this Friday," Simpson said.

"We need to get a good solid hit-out from Nic. He played 40-50 minutes which we wanted him to last week and now the next step is to play a full game."

Still hard to know what they are going to do, I don't think they've made up their mind on Naitanui.

And as Keyser pointed out, the writer wasn't really paying attention to what happened at last year's draft.

When do any of the journo's these days have any clue about what is happening at WC? They seem to be a bunch of clueless nuffies. Its like they ran out of writers so they have the home economics writers filling in..

They write to suit their agenda - the article was primarily about Sheed and how he's been doing well so they overhype that he was "overlooked" to run an agenda that he should have been taken earlier.

If he starts to struggle at some stage it'll be how we controversially traded down in the draft knowing that Sheed would still be there and passing up the chance to select someone better
