Windhager looks promising but he's only managed 15 possessions or more 7 times in his career and his best game was the one against Kelly where he got 21 possessions. 17 is his next best tally. 11 games under 11 possessions. He goes at one clearance per game and low contested possessions.

Gresham you can criticise his kicking but I think a few people are tripping if they think Windhager is ready to push him out of the middle. Realistically most take 50 plus games to start owning a midfield spot unless they are pretty special players. Bytel still can't grab a spot after years in the system.

In a rebuilding side a kid like him might get 20 plus games on ball to build up quickly but that's not where we are at.
I hear what you say & respect your opinion and your logic is sound. I’m not disputing the stats but some of those games I assume his role was to tag and maybe some were as a sub but that’s not here or there.

Maybe my approach is just a bit different as based on recent evidence our current midfield is serviceable but I don’t think can match it with the really good sides and given their age & experience won’t get much better - I think Windhager is the future and we need to invest in his development to get a better long term outcome even if in the short term there might be some bumps in the road. I doubt he will develop much in the VFL and if anything it might set him back.

Re Gresh - no doubt he can pinch hit at the centre bounce & is good at it (albeit with ordinary disposal by foot into the forward 50) but nothing in his 100+ games indicates to me he will ever be an elite midfielder. Smart forward who can pinch hit only.

GWS related, Kingsley can’t sustain that anger through his career. Will definitely need to address it in the off season.

Feel bad for him tbh, would be incredibly stressful coaching a talented team that don’t put effort in unconditionally every week.

The zoomed in cameras just reek of a decision in filming made by people who don’t actually watch games
Happens in cricket too. Have a close up on the ball in the air or along the ground so you can't see where the fielders are.
Just because you have cameras that can do close ups doesn't mean you have to use it all the time.

I was suprised how emotive Kingsley was in the box. They are obviously not robots and nobody expects them to be not immersed in the game, but I doubt that level of emotion helps with the clear thought processing required of the job. He was shown giving plenty of sprays down the phone and thats not a good look for anyone in that job. He was always a highly rated assistant but I always found him quite serly and not very engaging at his time at the Saints.

RTB has learnt and changed his approach and the Gen Y generation simply dont respond to that type feedback. It wont take long for people on the other end of the sprays to become soured, he needs to change his approach if he wants to remain in the job for any length of time. Im sure if Kingsley had a mentor he would be telling him to get some assistance with dealing with the game day anxieties.

A spray may help when used in moderation. To REALLY get a message across in a vital time but outside of those very rare times it’s better the coach stay focused and logical. Can’t get emotionally bogged down on one point when there’s still game to go. Need to still be assessing and formulating plans the whole time. I really like how Ross has been in the box this season, not agreed with all of his choices but you can see he’s always watching and assessing not going off his rocker and getting tilted.

I don't get why we need to see a close up of players looking at the screen waiting to see the goal they just scored, just show the team setting up until the replay is ready.

Do you think he amps it up, to show the GWS fan that he cares, maybe to get the fan to show some passion themselves?

He was never as volatile as an assistant, seems a bit fake for a guy lauded as a coaching genius or whatever they said he was

This year is the first for a long time that its the first first and second year players, the kids that are powering the team and not just one or two but an entire batch. Keep adding more talent and maybe 2024 can be 2004 revisited.
They will get better too. Couple more waiting in the wings too. Probably another 3-4 we won't see for 2-3 years though.

I remember him looking a bit pissed at Richo during the game on at least one occasion!

Maybe he was on the phone shouting at the GWS members, telling them to get their F'ing Rses in to watch the game. The juggler in the local park here draws a bigger crowd than that on Sundays.

The 09/10 group were the Gen Y/Millenials. The current crop are gen Z now.

In 50 years millennials will still cop s**t for what young people are doing. They’ll be like 85

Just like Boomers are all campaigners, Millennials are all weak willed avocado eating losers. They'll be too busy being despondent and complaining to care at least. The boomers get uppity and flap their gums at you when you bag them.

Honestly though, its about as deserving as "generations" are as a categorising concept. Theyre basically made up garbage anyway (originally to sell books) that vaguely reflects a very broad age range. Having all the labels basically reduced to "boomer = old/out of touch" and "millenial= young/lazy etc" is just as useful anyway.

Hasnt Windy only played like 20 games? A few as the sub and a few as a high half forward. so lets say its 10 games as a pure mid and 7 of those he got 15 touches or more (whilst also playing on an oppo mid).

Id argue that your stats paint a picture of immense potential.
