nah its good theatre, fires the crowd up and when it backfires as spectacularly as it did, its great.

if JHF did it to a big home norf crowd of 5000 after slamming home his 5th goal, would you hate it?
North supporters are campaigners.
They deserve it!
We're not. That's the difference.

I don’t really know.

This Groundhog Day loop is insanity.

Might as well give the forgetful optimist mask a spin.
The difference is that normally what happens is we are coached poorly, yet through out-working and individual brilliance we got the chocolates, but never convincingly, and outside of 2020 never really looking like a side that's flag-worthy.

This season we seem to have actually been coached well, both strategically and with gameday moves. We have holes in our list but rather than sit back and use those holes as excuses like we have for the last decade, we are making active moves to try to solve them, which are working. DBJ not working in defence - try him forward. Williams not working forward - try him in defence. Multiple KPFs go down - send Burton to cover.

I still think we probably aren't quite there yet to win the flag this year, but I do think that if we can keep Carr taking the lead in the box, keep the organic growth going, and get a couple of good trades in, we really look like a side that could jag one or two soon.

I think what’s changing the narrative around this club and playing group for many of us, is their toughness and grit. That steely resolve and determination, coupled with some genuine emerging superstars, has made them more trustable. Really good team to watch at the moment.
The "head coach" is finally invested in his team for the first time since 2014..

The players are finally showing the commitment that they should have been doing for years.

Some structural changes have occurred in the past couple of months that were long overdue.

We are seeing the benefits now.

And yes, finally not folding like origami swans, but showing grit and steel, and fighting back from the brink to fashion fabulous victories.

Where was this passion and commitment for nearly a decade? It's good to finally see it return 😎

Zak Butters is now the alpha dog in the competition

Enjoy it

Fix yourself a cup of tea

Take a nice walk out in the sun

Definitely. There is no situation in which I'm ok with it. I'd honestly prefer him to just give them the finger lol

the midfield is good enough to win this year, if we had some forwardline efficiency we'd be a genuine chance. like if marshall came back and went god mode and stop concussing himself.

you might be happy with seeing a few home and away wins, but the rest of us want a flag. until donuts can do that, he is rightfully attacked because no one has ever had as many chances as he has to make a grand final, in the history of the sport.

just a few years ago we were 11-4 and missed the finals.

ken doesn't get credit for bombing us so badly last year that we went from top 2 twice in a row to missing finals again. you don't get to constantly reset the bar so that making finals is a high achievement.

10 years. no flags.
10 years. no grand finals.

those are the stats that matter. when he does something that matters we'll give him some credit. history says he won't.

So you may as well log off until Sept.

If you can't enjoy the ride, why are you here?

I don't disagree, I think we're finals but no GF this year but am here for the journey.

That's simply bizarre umpiring! Ump said that's three blocks ... if it was illegal he should have pinged after the first! Some umps are mature enough for the job.
Should have given him a warning first time.
Not sure anyone knew that such an innocuous thing was a punishable crime that resulted in an automatic free/50m penalty?
If SPP was stupid enough to still try it on after that, then yes, give a 50m penalty.

Thought the first one was stiff

Was that the one where Grundy was blocking his run at the ball and Lycett basically threw him aside? Lycett should have been given the free for blocking, he was being shepherded out of the contest. .

I know it's hard for some people to admit Lycett had a bloody good game and was massively influential to the result. He went to war last night and gave everything he had for four quarters.

Against South last week he wasn't outstanding against Brooksby, they probably broke even, but he looked much more mobile than he has for a while. Staying fit is the key to his game.

Would love to see them sneak Visentini into the side to give him support for a few games.

Yeah I think we could definitely cobble together a good enough forwardline if we have players not injured/suspended. Our forward stocks are actually great on paper.

We need a ruckman to show consistent form. Last night might have been Scott's best game since 2021 but no guarantee he can continue it.

And I still say we need some more shutdown defenders. It will help when Burton is able to get back there, but honestly we probably need an upgrade on TJ too.

If everything goes perfectly for us we could challenge this year, but I still think our more likely path would be picking up a KPD and ruck in the off-season and getting it done in 2024.

Everything revolves around Rozee and Butters really. Horne-Francis will eventually make it a trio but at this stage he's still a player who impacts in bursts, which is absolutely fine.

The fact that we could field Boak, Wines and Drew as a second midfield rotation is pretty wild.

There's echoes of the West Coast team of the mid 2000s - solid enough at either end but a deep and dynamic midfield that will always keep us in games.
Wines has improved his game a fair bit in his first month
Crazy that he is 3rd or 4th banana

I've been very critical but he was in our best 5 last night I thought, and possibly even our most important due to the role he played. The challenge is what does he do next week, and the week after.

What Lycett has what teakle doesnt have is the timing to consistently hit grundy and gawn just a tad early to prevent the ruckman from grabbing the ball out of ruck without being too early to be wrestled out the way (albeit the free kicks that got the umpire sucked in)

Second game back is usually the tough one, although he has had some preparation in the sanfl.

Might be a good one to play Vis 😉

Sometimes when you see a player you think, geez this guy has something. I reckon Lord falls into that category. I reckon he is going to be a very good player for us going forward. Seems that a number of commentators have the same view.

Wasn't convinced on debut but saw enough last night to think guy is Charlies heir apparent.

Hit the gym, continue to work on the craft and we could have a real beauty here.

I think it is pretty obvious. PAFC 66 for a start. Why don’t you read the threads and then you can name them.

Use the ignore function if it bothers you so much.

Our biggest advantage this year is all teams are thoroughly beatable. There is no genuine dominator. Collingwood going ok but have also looked vulnerable at times.

I watched the replay late last night after the game and it seemed like he was in everything. Some bone crunching tackles at crucial moments too. Haven’t looked at the stats but I reckon he’d be up there for number of tackles.

Jonas had a pretty important tackle in the last few minutes as well. A captain’s tackle is as important as a captain’s goal, for a defender.

Thank god umps don’t have tasers as yet
