Toast Round 10 = Collingwood 78-74 Adelaide

Boy did the umpires come hard for Adelaide that last 15 minutes. Collingwood couldn't buy a free kick until the end even though there were multiple warranted.

Great win considering we were one down on the bench for a quarter and a half.

Next week Mitchell and Beau hopefully back, and surely they bring in Kreuger for Cox. He was putrid today and I know Krueger isn't the greatest going around and is injury prone, but I will back him to at least judge a ball in flight and not run under it every ****** time and clunk one.

Easy to be righteous after the fact:

What was your thought at the time?
Personally, a lot of players run over 15m without a bounce. Crisp is a common culprit for Pies also.

The league needs to enforce it because bouncing the footy is a key skill that separates it from round balls.

For real? He was exclusively praising Adelaide, and would pot any Pies players the others would bring up positively (Pendles "getting tagged out", Daicos and his "kicking efficiency")
Yeah for real. Most of the commentary was about how Pies would respond, how good they were in this situation etc… Like I said before I thought Riewoldt was the most biased. I don’t love Lyon but felt he was pretty neutral

Herald Sun website leading with the headline "Concussion stunner: Should DeGoey winner have happened".

After listening to McRae's presser, the muppets have taken 2 + 2 and come up with 15.435.

Oh I don’t disagree!!!
We had at least 4 travels today uncalled.

I was simply calling him out for being righteous in making that call after Fox had confirmed it.

Since he hasn’t refuted this ….i can only assume I’m spot on.

I stupidly decided to argue the point on the main board - surprise surprise there’s now crickets. I genuinely lose IQ points every time I go over there.

He ran 24m so in what world is it ridiculous?

What? He ran 24.2 metres and you call it 'ridiculous'. How far do you think players should be able to run?

When the whistle went I thought we infringed in the marking contest - couldn’t believe when it went our way
This indicates that watching live I didn’t think it was too far
Players regularly run that far or further (esp from kick outs) and in the context of the game I have no prob with it

Replay hindsight. Every time Billy or some player takes a huge grab by placing their hands on the back of their opponent, are you wanting the mark disallowed?

Were you at the game today? I agree when you say Coxy's judgement was poor today but for every ball he ran under or double grabbed he made a strong contest and forced the ball to ground or worked his arse off in ruck duels. He ran up and down the ground trying to be a target when we went forward and then ran hard and deep into defense to help out our backs. That huge spoil late in the game at the Punt Road end was magnificent. Putrid is a nasty word to use for a bloke who gave everything he had all day. He is just a good clunk or two away from regaining that strut and presence.

No Cox today- we don't win. Cameron needs a break and support. Krueger could not give anywhere near the support Cox does and as you say, his body is far less trustworthy.

Cox also lay some excellent tackles and chased hard to apply pressure. He moves incredibly well for a 7 footer.

It’s funny how whenever we win a close game the narrative in the media is that we won through a controversial umpiring decision. They never give us credit for winning these close games,it’s always luck in their minds. And the Rankine decision shouldn’t have been controversial anyway. He ran almost 25 metres for god’s sake.
lolwut

We have been lionised as a Club over the last 24 months. Column inch after column inch about how good we are in close games. Every bloody tv show. Every bloody newspaper. Every bloody radio station. Even today - as just mentioned above - the commentary was regarding how Collingwood will find a way. And we did. And haven't we all lapped it up? We've loved it. Deservedly so. And it continues.

I mean, seriously...

Our ability to win these games with practically no tall forwards and no marking threats forward of the ball is a coaching prowess, and a a testament to our never say die attitude too.

Being at the game, once Reef was out (essentially fourth fiddle after McStay, Checkers and WHE on the list) we had Jordy and Schultz running our ‘tall forward’ patterns. Crazy as Cox couldn’t hold on to anything today and Cameron’s running patterns forward are crap despite him being a good stationary contested mark.

Not sure how long we can keep going like this but if we manage to sneak in a top 4 finish before McStay comes back… watch out ;)

Fools and their money ...

What was your thought at the time?

That he ran too far.

Did i think they'd pay it? No, because they normally swallow the whistle in the last few mins and they'd only paid 19 free kicks for the game.

Was it the right call? Absolutely.

Have you not been watching Collingwood over the past two years? That was textbook. Pace themselves for long stretches and then when it’s time to “ play the moments” you have the fitness and talent to do that. Especially important when you are down on cattle. It’s not as if we gave up a significant lead, crows are a good side and were on our hammer all afternoon.
Nope. First game I've watched in years

I don’t get the hate for Gary Lyon? I’m watching Q4 and they’re not barracking for either team and even admitting CWood will likely win

'It's an Adelaide free, Adelaide free!' which he was yelling during the infamous Rankine kick I50 which he was basing off nothing other than what he was cheering for.
