Whats everyone's predicted scores for:

Simpson (50) V Close (40) V Rankine (50).

I've got to field 1. Perhaps another will come into play if Smith is a late out for me.

My guesses are in brackets.

I've got Simpson on field at the moment but being in a forward pocket he looked lost last week. With the addition of Selwood/Atkins I would think he'll get even less ball. Tempted to throw Rankine in there?

For rookies, I tend to try and field the ones that might snag a goal. The +12 or +9 does wonders for their score. I’d go Rankine or Close on field...leaning towards Rankine.
Rankine had a quiet one last week and he seems the type to respond with a big game.

Any solid news regarding Smith floating around? Will cop a donut if he’s out unless I trade him.

Really wanted to get Simpson up to Duncan instead. If only the Crows game was the early one.

Its rare this year that people are actually interested in a Crows game - but here it is.....

If you have to make a decision before the Geelong game then I would trade BSmith. He didn’t train yesterday and even if it’s a minor knee issue, Crows won’t risk him. He might score poorly as well. Crows made their intentions clear with 2 debutants, don’t think they will take any risks this year.

All in on Don Draper. Have gone Gawn who I expect to be managed in game down to him. Plan is to get back up to Grundy before R12, in the mean time providing instant cash for final 4 rook upgrades to my ideal targets this week and next. All targets are bottomed out right now with low BE’s, so with Gawn’s current price tag/not being cherry ripe coupled with Draper on scene it’s the perfect storm to make a big move now.

Pretty much a bang or bust play which will prove to be season defining. The upside is too hard to ignore and if it doesn’t come off well I won’t be losing any sleep in a season like this.

Two quandries:

Keep Neale's 88 or go Whitfield or perhaps Max?
Use Aarts's 69 instead of old mate Simpkin?

As mentioned above, rain is predicted for Whitfield and marks do massively influence his score but one forecast I looked at said although it will rain, it wasn't that threatening. Which to believe?

Actually, looking at my team again, I am in the fortunate position (usually) of having 29 playing this week by the looks and I don't think there is any chance now of a loophole, so it becomes a choice of a sore Max vs a potentially rain affected Whit. Max's body worries me for this game and O'Brien is a tough opponent. Last year it was O'Brien leading the hitouts 34 to 30 but only scoring 57 vs Max's 126. So the small sample of history reads okay.

Also, I think I need to back in a 'premium' (this week decides that status, I think) in Simpkin to beat 69 even though his average is only 72, he is due a good one. If not, he goes next game.

Good to hear Draper will be there. I'm with you Kozi; he's on my field.

The big issue for me will be if Gawn and Smith are out.

I have coverage for Smith - even though it's only 46 - it's better than ****ing Houston....

But nothing for Gawn. So I either bring in a R3 who might actually play, or downgrade Gawn to Grundy/O'Brien - or cop a zero....

Other option is to trade out Simpson to Stewart via Smith to the mids this week where I have the cover on the bench (Budarick/Bennell). Means still upgrading a rookie instead of sideways trading.

Gawn will play. He probably won't ton up, but he will play. I just have to hope Gawn has a 60+ pt first half because he will be managed later in the game. It's possible with the team the crows are fielding, I expect guys like Oliver and Petracca to go 100+ and surely Gawn will have a field day too.

Ok - now I'm really concerned he'll be a late out.... :p

yeah I like that move. Simpson won't be that much better than Budarick/Bennell and I still think BSmith is one of the better backline premos, so holding him could be good. Only way this plan goes wrong is if Smith's knee injury is worse than first thought and lingers for multiple weeks.

If you’re still on Gawn my risky plan just got a heck of a lot more appeaing. Lock it in!

he plays 95% game time which is a lot more than most other mids in the comp. much more. factor in the fact that Brisbane kick winning scores, it's really not surprising.

Doesn't that just assume that Brisbane's winning scores cause Neale's good games rather than Neale's good games cause Brisbane's winning scores?

In that case I’d probably look to trade him to a premo mid.
