Assuming Rowy is out:

Out: Rowy, Bell
In: Campbell, COR

First one is self explanatory, Campbell back in after a rest. COR apparently did well in the practice match (3 good reserves games in a row), so I'd bring him in, then Campbell, Lloyd, others don't have to spend as much time in defence and it flows on to others being able to spend more time in the guts. I thought Bell was decent at times, but we've seen a couple of other ok games from him followed by weeks of not much, so I don't want to risk that.

I didn't think Wicks really earned his spot back, but he definitely kept it.

Can see Logan being in trouble, given our history of dropping him, but really hope he's given more time.

Don't see why Rowbottom should get a week. When he went to bump Merritt was upright, but then crapped himself, fumbled the footy and dropped his head.

Seemed a pretty easy call with the way they adjudicate these. Electing to bump and hitting the head is going to end in week/s off. It’s crazy that leading with an elbow can be cleared and these automatic suspension. The only saving Grace here is there was no concussion to worry about or it would have been a bigger suspension.

Whether I like it or not I can see why this one got a week as the ball was not with the player.

Did enjoy the hit at the time though.

Rowbottom for Campbell will probably be the only change, but I think COR is an essential in given the make up of Carltons forward line, which has me dropping Bell again.

Hickey and Ladhams need to be smarter than Preuss was yesterday with his hitouts. Lost count of the amount of times he sent it down a Carlton midfielders throat.

McCartins play on Curnow and Silvagni
Rampe COR Lloyd Campbell on Durdin Owies Motlop Carroll

That should free Blakey up to help out and get on the move.

Only won the contested ball by 12 against the Bombers.

Still massive room for improvement in that area and I don't know how we're going to fix it, we apparently spent a lot of the off season working on it and its still our biggest issue.

I like it...

I haven't seen COR play in a long while, but I've never seen all that much to write home about.

If he gets a run, I'll be interested to see how he goes...

Hmm.
Rowy definitely gone.
Saw Campbell at the Bombers game and he certainly looked fine so I'm going to assume he's available.
I think that's our only change.
Florent pushes forward and he and Warner do Rowy's inside minutes.
More complicated if Campbell is not available. Bring in COR as above or Stephens to play outside and push Florent more inside.
All of these would work.
We could bring in Clarke to tag Walsh. Not the way Horse has operated in recent times but you never know.
Campbell in for Rowbottom.

Bell won't get dropped, neither will Wicks. I suspect Campbell for Rowy, and shift Florent/McInerny to mids

Yeah maybe, I'm saying what I want, rather than what the coaches will do. Don't want or think Wicks will get dropped after the weekend.
I've watched Bell live - just runs and runs. Coaches have repeatedly said he just gets in the right spots to thwart opposition ball movement. I think possessions and goals are a bonus for him it seems!!

Devo that Rowy out, especially against Blues mids...

Probably now or never for Clarke this week.

If he gets the gig he will no doubt give it his all. Maybe this time he does something good with his ability to get the pill. Good luck to him if so.

I wouldn’t mind rewarding his toil in the twos even though his disposal has always let him down.

If Bell gets a chance can’t see why Clarke can’t get another.

Regardless of what people think of Bell I think he gets in because he plays the role assigned to him. His speed means he can close on defenders quickly and force panicked disposal. The main reason when he misses tackles is he is closing so quickly and can get sidestepped. As mentioned elsewhere he stands off packs in the fifty looking for the ground ball and not going up when he has no chance of marking. He keeps chasing for the full four quarters. Regardless of his limitations I am pretty sure that is what he is on the ground for.
I forgot how young Clarke is ? How can you stay on a list that long and still be a bad kick ? We have some really good field kicks I really don't understand how he can't learn or be coached into kicking better. It's not as if he came from a non football background.

Tmac to take curnow
Rampe to get silvagni
Try free paddy up to be extra cover. They don't have a second big marking forward this week so we have arguably more marking power down there than they do. Need to exploit that.

Campbell to take rowbottom's place in the middle

Well if anyone has two tickets they want to sell could you let me know. The game is sold out on a Monday! I went to st Kilda Geelong on the weekend and there were loads of seats left.

With McGovern, McKay and Pittonet out, the Blues are playing an aggressive style of fast, two way running, tough at the contest and through the corridor. So many times they just outnumbered GWS at the ball and eventually wore the giants down with their pressure. It reminded me of how we were at the start of last season.

If I was Horse, I'd aim to clog up the corridor and force the Blues to kick down the line or long. Then our superior height should cut off their attacking forays. We can then hit them on the rebound. With Logan, Lads / Hick and Buddy being guarded by the relatively small talls in Weitering, Plowman and Kemp, there should be plenty of opportunities. Of course we will have to match their hardness and work rate to win enough ball. This won't be easy as their midfield has been great this year.

I thought these games don't sell out...

Lewis young will return also to be another tall. I’d expect kemp to be moved forward also to be another tall target. This has been his position in the VFL. Defence was only a last resort to cover for young in HS protocols.
