His brothers for starters! We can only afford to have one Lipinski in the side in any case. They are different players so they won’t ever have the same level of impact. Macrae I would like to be a clean on ball clearance machine.

Lol Jack Macrae is a gun. One of the best mids in the comp. If Fin can be 80% as good then we should accept that.

Can’t believe people are suggesting McCreery goes out. Until there is someone else in the side that is lightning quick and hits like a truck he stays in. Finally a genuine defensive pressure prospect, as opposed to incumbents from years before where defensive pressure was merely code for adequate (not good) at applying pressure and incapable of winning the ball themselves.

Could be wrong but i don't think he laid a tackle on Fri night.

I rate the boy, but when you're a low possession winner yourself, you need to be bringing elite skills elsewhere.

That's all well and good... if Begg was actually offering something at AFL level. It's time for Cox to be inserted.
Have you ever thought of inserting Cox in the rear?
He could drift back & support out defensive talls.
Cameron can cover all forward stoppages.

Given at this stage there is gonna be 15-30mm of rain on sunday... would that alter your selection ideas?
Go small rather than tall? Not bring in cox and give Begg another week because he is good below his knees on the ground?

Who’s taking Beggs Ruck minutes?
Who ever you want! Roughy is a premiership ruckman that can pinch in the ruck for 5 minutes a quarter. I'm certain Moore could do it too for 5 minutes. Why do we need cox to come in to fill a relief ruck role and add nothing else to the game!

If Cox comes in it will be as the main ruck pushing Cameron back down to the second ruck.

The alternative gives us no key forward next to Mihocek.

Yep. I would prefer Begg regardless of the weather conditions. Just get games into him to help his development. No harm will come to playing him. Some may point to Jack Watts saying it could dent his confidence. I believe it is a fallacy that Jack Watts suffered from playing too early. He simply was never good enough. Just like that other #1 draft pick Alex McDonald. Remember him? Similar build and athleticism to Jack. Put simply, the recruiters got that one wrong.

Begg looks so promising, and haven't seen his athletic like at the pies since Darcy Moore arrived. Play every game he is able. If he needs to be managed, rest him, but to me we are already managing him by only giving him circa 50% game time.

Murphy is a known quantity at AFL level. Not quite up to it but will star at the lower level.
Actually Murphy isnt a player who tends to star in the VFL. His output in the VFL tends to be pretty similar to his AFL output: mildly promising games with disposals in the teens. To be frank, Im not at all optimisitic about his AFL potential, but I've never seen him dominate in the VFL like he did in the 3rd Q. Now one swallow does not a summer make, but fingers crossed, it is a step in the right direction...

I really like Murphy. I expect with games in the seniors he will improve. We need his intercept defender types in defence at the moment.

Thought he looked pretty good in preseason before the injury
Was certainly ahead of Madgen in Macrae’s eyes given selection in practice games

Rain again eh? Interesting. Freo sucked in the rain yesterday. But will playing in the rain yesterday mean they're better prepared to play in it this week?

Rain plus humidity in QLD, but no doubt they will know not to try play dry weather footy in wet weather and they'll correct that on sunday lol

Looks like they are expecting Switkowski, Walter and hopeful on Taberner to come back.

Surely he'll play next week. Beggs beginners enthusiasm and competitiveness seemed to wane this week. Just looked really lost.

Absolutely no way would l be playing Begg against the Freo big men. If the coaching staff keep him in for this week, l think that would be really poor management of this young man, whose just starting his AFL career....

Why? I'd rather play Freo at full strength. A few cheap wins doesn't help us in the long term one bit.

It doesn't matter if they're full strength, or playing at 85% strength. We know a win is going to be heavily against us, considering our forward line is practically non functional at the moment, along with a struggling midfield, to go along with Freo being the hardest team to score against in the competition.
We just need to be competitive, and come away with a strong performance, even if we lose by 5 or 6 goals. We play like we have the past two weeks, then we won't get within 10 goals of Freo over there....

"Demoted bigman Mason Cox pressed his case for a recall with a dominant display in the ruck for the Magpies in slippery conditions in a 55-point win over Footscray.

Cox had 47 hitouts along with 19 disposals including six clearances and seven marks, putting pressure on youngster Aiden Begg's spot in the seniors."

Begg against Darcy in the wet?
I would rather we didn't break him against the physically strong types.
