There were allot of good players in that side to compete with for votes including Swan and Pendlebury. 14 Brownlow votes doesn’t reflect how good he was those two years. You’re massively underrating how good he was.
Nah I’m not.

Didak seemed to have no trouble polling in 2010.

Murphy had Judd to compete with and nearly polled double the amount of votes Thomas did in 2011 despite playing in a worse side

Yup. Agree with you there. What i have been saying all along. We do everything we can do to win. Pick each team on its merits. Given our limited list though, its likely will end up 12th to 16th this year.

Our best 22 is good enough to finish mid table. Injurys to key players is the only reason our wheels fell off, as they return you will see us pick off mid table sides and below.

I feel like we've never been a good wet weather team for as long as I can remember, but having seen Fremantle's best footy this year, they're a very good side at using the quick, 45 degree pass going 30-40 metres. Not sure that will hold up if the weather turns.

If the rain comes we need to increase our pressure and really take away their ability to control the ball.

I think we'll probably lose but I reckon we're due for a good performance.

I could put up with a Loss IF we play well and just get beaten by a Better side.

Like the Brisbane Loss

Murphy may not of been a star but he was certainly still a good player in a poor team.

I would say not much separates the top 4 or so most drafts but there usually is a drop off after to 6 to 10 then 11 to 15 16 to 25. Etc.
I would argue differently on these points

1. Murphy was a star. 300 games 2xB&F, AA, AA squad, AFLPA best 1st year player, AFLCA player of the year 2011, captain 6 years. Thats a great resume, he gets marked down cause he faded a bit but was certainy a better player than say Sidey or Daisy who qualify as stars.

2. No 1 pick is the jewel. Its clearly better than 2-5 which cleary stand above 6-10 which clearly stand above 11-20. After the top 20 the differences start to get less. That makes sense, talent and abilty to be a star is a pyramid. The best are just clearly better than players down the scale and this is reasonably predictable as juniors.

Would love to see another famous Pies road win but honestly think we are in for an arse kicking

I don’t think it will be a smashing. We will have our moments.
‘probably not enough to win the game though.

Trying not to go in with too high of expectations as I don’t want to be too disappointed lol. Hoping for a response today after the last couple of weeks. Can’t wait to see ginni and Elliot back, hoping they both have a cracker.

Let’s go boys!

Hopefully we can see an effort today from the boys. It's nit about the win/loss, it's about an effort and a want to be competitive. Over the past two weeks, we haven't been able to say the effort or hunger has been there.
If we go in with a defeatist attitude, we will get smashed by 40+ over there, if we have a belief, and a hunger for the contest, then l see us getting within 12 to 15 points, which l would be happy with.

Didak another one Thomas had to compete with for votes. You’re not helping your cause here.

Didak only had one more vote in 2010 than Thomas did in 2011 btw. Not sure how you could say one had trouble polling whilst the other did.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. I’m happy for honourable loses this year for us to finish low enough to secure a great draft pick. Let’s be honest there’s no other way these days to improve enough to be contenders. Geelong are the perfect example, they keep regenerating without going down and haven’t won a flag since 2011. They make finals and lose. Melbourne, massive rebuild with great draft picks, winners.
So happy for today to be a good game but not quite for us. Honestly I can’t see us getting up anyway but give it a good crack.

Spot on. Bulldogs, Melbourne, Hawks all did it with some excellent draft picks.
We’ve wasted a heap of first round picks in trades. We need to get back into the draft.

To be fair, we've been hammered by flu the last 2 weeks.
Even some of the boys who played didn't look right.

Absolutely no reason we can't win this and continue to push for a finals spot.

The storm looks like it's going to be a big one, really good opportunity for us to show some renewed effort and focus on the basics.

Yet McCreery with 3 possessions retains his spot. Despite Henry's disposal errors, his was a far more promising contribution in what was a poor team performance.
When MCceery has the pill he usually uses it well. I don't hold my breath in anticipation of some inexplicable brain fade or panicky meltdown. Henry has ability but he needs to find a way to calm down in the moment or he will not have a long career. He has played at the highest level enough to have settled down by now.
