Review Round 11 = Fremantle 75-75 Collingwood

Very proud of the boys effort last night. With a third of the team with less than 10 games, on Freo’s cow paddock we have come away with 2 points.

It should have been 4 if it wasn’t for that bullshit call against Sullivan, the AFL will be working the phones this morning to make sure similar calls are made in all other games this weekend so it doesn’t stand out as the s**t call that it was.

In the end we just ran out of personnel, with Billy having to be moved forward for the last 5 minutes hurt our defence.

Let’s hope that Cox can get up for next week, if not Freddy might be next man up.

Exciting times - can’t wait to see what we can do when we get the full band back together.

Fixed for you.

I went and watched that three times, and as I did live, when I watched it the first time I thought it was high. The next two I am not sure it happens so fast. The tackle definitely ends up in the right area.

Now I have addressed that will you discuss the throws or the Daicos deliberate or the Amiss one?
I think you can tell it was an umpire error by the Freo player. He was doing the "look I'm trying to get it out umpire" moves rather than appealing for the free.

The Sullivan holding the ball was called a fend as his prior. Can't say I saw it. They've definitely decided against putting the whistle away in close finishes.

Frampton in the ruck killed us. Honestly, what was the alternative? Dean or Moore were the options.

I feel we should have put Frampton in the backline to steady the ship when up 25.

Frammers should've stayed back and maybe a 5 min pinch hit in the ruck. Would've been better off throwing Dean or even Bruzzy forward for that aerial contest. Anyway, it's all in hindsight now.

Great effort by the team. We had 5 kids who had played less than 3 games of AFL footy and our 2 key big forwards out the last quarter.
All things being equal we should really have lost with the group we had to play with, especially with the in-game injuries.

Take the 2 points and lick our wounds. Hopefully bring Howe, De Goey, Elliott, Mihocek, WHE & Mitchell back at different stages over the next 4 weeks

What is really unfortunate is that although the byes start next round, we need to wait another 3 rounds before we get to ours. We could really do with the bye now.

Not sure I’ve been so excited after a draw. It’s clear, as a minimum, HH and Richards are 2 absolute finds.

With the little game time Parker had, he looked composed and another talent.

I thought Allen was beginning to look more comfortable as the game went on. Hopefully he get a few more games this season because I think it will do him the world of good.

It’s probably the same rule where umpires award a free kick if a player kicks it away from the area to waste time.

I’d noticed during game that there were stoppages where we weren’t giving the ball straight back (eg: planting the ball on the ground). I suspect the umpire was reacting to behaviour either from the team or a player in the aggregate, which umpires have always done. I’m OK with it, but it drives one eyed supporters nuts because they never see the calls both ways.
You can be ok with it 76, but that doesn’t make everyone else just one eyed.

It was a ridiculous decision at a crucial time of the game.

Rubbish

You can’t hang it on Sullivan.

What about Schultz missing an easy goal in the final quarter? Or Mihocek missing his set shots? Or Josh Daicos missing a goal on the run directly in front? Or Nick missing his shots, multiple times. Or Bobby giving away a 50? Or …? Or …? Or …?

The result was a team effort. As it is every week.
I didn't blame Sullivan, I blamed the free kicks against him.

Fly has basically conceded in his presser, we went in not expecting to win.
The injuries have now past the tipping point. So amazingly we managed to get 25 points up and then hold on to draw when we are missing so many best 22 and were out of legs from a recent few tough games where we’ve not been able to do proper rotations.

I’m more and more pleased with the effort from the boys the further we get from the game.

The new talent across the club is exciting. Richards, Harrison, McInnes & Sullivan are all up to it. Parker & Dean look likely to me. Allan, Jiath, Demattia & Ryan are all still young too.

who else gets a bad nights sleep with games like that?. Still baffled and annoyed that we could allow a side that's lucky to kick 6 goals a game get 5 in about 12 minutes.
I woke up still fuming

or did we just run out of legs?, there were some very inexperienced players out there tonight
I think thats exactly the case. They looked like they were running up and down on the spot the last 15 minutes. Still probably should have won though. A lot of poor shots at goal killed us. As well as that umpiring decision. I dont think even Razor Ray in his grandstanding prime would have stooped to that level. The Switkowski one was just as bad. They copped a few bad ones as well. The standard overall was pretty poor.

Was always going to be a tough game and thing will get tougher now with the ridiculous amount of injuries piling up. Harrison and Richards were fantastic and the few thing Parker did impressed me more so than Allan who just isn't ready imo.

Poor old Darcy Cameron has a big week coming up

WB with English/Darcy/Lobb will be a tall order. They will be missing a very in-form Richards & Naughton though
