Beaten by a patty Cripps master class , nothing less

Giving up a 6 goal lead to get beaten by Carlton ? Pathetic at best

Very flat , insipid performance. Could have used walker and Archie just doesn't cut the mustard

Will come back to haunt us losses like this , now owe us a unexpected win to even the ledger !

Not good lions disappointing

Bad luck guys, I think you guys will make finals, this is just a small speed bump.

You have a very good young team, just hope we can improve over the next 2 years.

Cripps was incredible today, best player on the field by a country mile. Walsh a pretty close second to him as well - you've got a couple of rippers.

I’ve said it more than once this year - when our midfield gets beaten, it gets flogged. And when our forward line goes missing, it’s impotent. I’m not one for ridiculous statements after a horrendous loss and in all it’s been a decent start to the year. I really don’t see how you can justify that sort of a loss though. Need to tinker with a few things

Not to be that person who blames losses on team selection because that's super easy in hindsight. In saying that, I respect the coaches decisions, but are we really supposed to believe that Keays, Walker and OMac aren't good enough for this team but Archie Smith, Rayner and Nick Robertson are? Correct me if I’m wrong, because O might still be sore from the game in the West, but even so, we could’ve done with his forward presence.

Lachie Neale needs some help in the middle (and some help from the umpires) and quickly.

So hard to get a read on Lyons. Last week he was immense, and then is out of it for the majority of this game. Unsure why he had the job on Cripps when he is not a defensive midfielder at. all.

Don’t even get me started on Martin and Matho missing those easy shots from right in front. Amateur hour.

Sick of seeing opposition players taking uncontested marks in their fwd 50 then our boys stand around and blame each other for not contesting. They all need to take some fu cking responsibility.

Martin and Matho .. you can say that again. Worse than U14 stuff. Missing goals at that juncture is all about NOT taking ownership.

A couple of issues we need to be able to deal with better - changing the momentum when we start getting beaten in the middle and finding a way of scoring when we're not winning clearances. These are the same problems we struggled with against Fremantle.

How anyone can make excuses for that shit is amazing. Absolute disgraceful and piss weak effort. Analyse it all want but it’s takes a special kind of mentally fragile and weak minded team to lose from there against the bottom side.

Time to play some kids in the middle- Matho and Mitch always go missing when it gets tough...
I’d also prefer to move Robbo to the middle and see what he can do, way too slow in defence

Better give 'em a verbal pasting on bigfooty then. That'll learn 'em

Fitzroy Jersey curse... played like Fitzroy but without the guts

I remember a couple of stirring road wins along the way vs West Coast and Collingwood in Fitzroy jumpers.

Matho has kicked some important goals for us the last couple of weeks and took ownership of that goal after the siren. Isn’t anywhere near our worst kick for goal.

Nah TBD what you don't understand is that we deliberately lose every game in Melbourne. It's to make things as unbearable as possible for the old fitzroy fans.

I support your views 100% all people see is the intercept marks, not his 1v1 defending

It's not like we got cut up by one of their talls either. Curnow kicked a couple and got some cheap free kicks but walker wouldn't have been on him. McGovern kicked a goal and that's about all he did all day.

One for the Negatives thread- We only recently extended Archie's contract to 2021. IMO he has had enough time to show his worth, offers zero around the ground.
I agree, he is currently not to AFL standard but has played just 10 games overall and this was his 2nd game in 2019 (stats taken from the Lions web site - hopefully accurate). Is anyone on this forum seriously saying that 10 games is ample for anyone to get their shit around AFL level? I think more concerning is that Stef isn't exactly a role model of tapping to advantage (or being useful in non-ruck type situations) for Archie to learn from.

Agreed. I also said that against Freo and the Dogs too though. Fact is, every game is crucial if you want to play in September.

We are starting to show a worrying trend of being flakey on the road.

Not only that, we've had a couple of games where we've played one good quarter, lost momentum and really struggled to get it back. Should be enough on field leaders to clamp down on the opposition when they have all the momentum and kicking goals.

Kinda felt like losing the game against the Dogs was our shot at a 5th or 6th and this game puts us 50/50 to make the finals.
