I think Butler is close to retirement because he’s done his ankle three times, had three operations on it, it is degenerative and couldn’t kick over a tin can in last year’s final.

But I love his busy attitude and work ethic. The days of him scooting off the back of a pack and into an open goal may be gone.

I hope I’m wrong and he kicks 40 for the rest of the year and wins the Norm Smith next year. Which is entirely possible.
Possible, yes
Improbable, also yes.

I'd even say our forward pressure has been putrid and we miss him

I'd agree. 3rd in the comp for tackles inside 50 last year.
We've missed that.
Yep, out of those 3 Butler is the one I'd keep, but I still reckon if he doesn't make a complete recovery after those tricky injuries he's had, we might want to move on after this year. He brings unrivalled defensive pressure and plenty of goals but I'm worried we might have already seen his best.

Still would prefer Sincs at half back if he’s played where he’s named.
Bonner would need a good game without the clangers this week.
Hope they start Hunter in the middle this week.

i'm thinking thats the difference last year to this year.

As is Clark. We’d get nothing for either. Butler is worth more to us than what we’d get in a trade and Clark might find some form this year. He’s got talent, it’s time to show it.

Clark, going nowhere as his best mate LDU is seriously looking at coming to us.

Jack Sinclair's best mate was Jack Billings.
So i'm not sure if your method holds weight.
And take a look at Sinclair's form since his two BFFs Billings and McKenzie were left out on the pavement for anyone to take. We destroyed his mojo by removing his friends.

Maybe, .... i didn't support either action, and it makes me wonder if management understand their team dynamics.

Sinclair was brought in as a stable pony for Billings but then Sinclair became the AA thoroughbred and Billings was the stable pony

Random one but I would love to see Liam Oconnel get a game this week. Not because he’s been the best performed but because he brings , toughness, speed and intensity. Something we’ve lacked.

Get him a game early and see how fast his development accelerates. It’s funny of the many Irishman who have come through I think at this stage he would have to be one of the most advanced
Lived in Perth with his family from memory and was acquainted with AFL already before going back to Ireland.
I'm usually against these experiments, but he should have an advantage having played a bit as a kid. Athletically he seems fairly primed already.

Weasley Billings wanted to leave...and we were more than happy to pay for him to do so.
LDU potentially wants to come in, and Clark may not potentially wants to leave.
Slightly different circumstances.

This is effectively the truth. Amazing in hindsight. If you'd taken Sinclair at #3 you wouldn't be unhappy (although no one compares to the Bont).

The experiments don't cost much and are a chance to work out. So i can't see why we'd be against it.

My point was....it may not matter who is mates with who.

The only team we should be favourite against in our present form is North.

In case anyone has forgotten, the Eagles last four games in Perth have resulted in 6 goal wins against Freo, Richmond and Melbourne. The other one was a one goal loss to Essendon. That form is plenty good enough to beat us especially as they kicked 16 goals in each of their wins.

We have a chance to win but the Eagles should be clear favorites in Perth.
I disagree entirely....
That we have a chance to win.
Eagles are turning that place back into the fortress.

The way Lyon has sucked the life out of the playing group, I doubt if we will win another game this season, no matter how much he juggles players around.

Club clearly isn't against it. They've tried numerous times to find leprechaun gold. They may just find some form of currency with this kid. Hope it works out.
Me not being a fan of the experiments is my own affair.
