Was about to write that. The football world is obsessed with possession tallys when assessing ability. Ashcroft is a bloody good player but Owens is next level.
I don't care if he wins it anyway. He's going to win so many awards we will lose count.

Sheezel has had a gun year but Ashcroft probably gets it for doing what he's doing in a top side I guess. I don't give a ****, the idiots that vote are probably people like Daisy and Corn Kanes. Owens will be a gun regardless.

I reckon the only player in the comp I'd trade him for is little Dicky Naicos. In fact maybe not even him. Love Mitchito.

Not saying he doesn't have some potential. More so that he doesn't have any obvious weapons to me.

Not big, not that quick, not a ball magnet, skills fine but no amazing.

Think he will he a good player, just not exciting. Looks like a Seb Ross type career to me.

Owens and Pou on the other hand have X factor.

He's got burst and power through the contest. Very strong athletic profile.

Mitch Owens.

Mitch Owens the 19 year old.

Mitch Owens the 19 year old who is only just settling into his best position.

Mitch Owens the 19 year old who is only just settling into his best position just had 21 possessions and 2.2, and was the most influential player on the ground. He kicked goals when we needed goals. He was sent back when we needed to settle. He was in the ruck when we needed spark. He was smashing contests when we needed contests smashed.
Superstar m

That was a good coaching performance form Rossy tonight, that game looked lost halfway through the second half but he turned the screws after that.

Our defence totally shut down the Swans after that with help from more pressure up the ground and our forward line finally started to kick some goals.

He was helped by Owens, NWM and Sinclair all stepping up in the last quarter but he knew where to put them to get maximum effect out of them.

Owens is incredible, he is our best player now, you can put him up forward, in the midfield or back in defence and he has an impact, he is a weapon.
Don't forget centre bounce Ruck work

Seb Ross isn't a bad career for an uninspiring player. His overhead marking looked very good tonight.

Daisy will be shattered. She spent the whole quarter running the tribunal hearing.
Absolutely putrid commentary tonight.
She just dug that whole deeper and deeper and refused to be told otherwise.

On more engaging things.
Franklin may have kicked two goals, but Wilkie gave him the mother of all hidings tonight.
Absolute flogging. In every aspect of the game. Complete and total pantsing.

Windy does not have to do much for posters to get excited around here. I personally don't get it, but hope to be wrong.

Windhager looked good with some of his plays tonight yet he is still to impact a game in a meaningful way outside of a tagging role.

I don't mind him being given a go in the middle for the foreseeable future to build up his experience. Hopefully the penny drops.

Right now he could end up a solid to gun mid but he is just as likely he could end up a Zac Fisher type.

Agree but it's a bit like having a footrace with a guy in a wheelchair, Buddy's clearly done and dusted imo.

He's 19 years old mate, not everyone is going to dominate from day one. He's shown plenty at AFL and VFL level to get excited about.
Don't expect him to dominate, in fact I expect very little given his draft position and young age. I am just pointing out that he is getting a lot of unnecessary hype.

It's getting to Sipposs/Tom Ledger levels on here. Doesn't make sense to me, given he has no obvious elite traits.

Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera:

30 disposals
1 goal
9 marks
445 metres gained

Genuinely becoming a star before our eyes these last few rounds.

Mitch Owens:

21 disposals
2 goals (2 behinds)
8 marks (3 contested)
7 inside 50s (equal first on ground)
490 metres gained

It’s crazy that this is his standard, at his age and experience. Won’t be long before Windy and Phillipou join him.

——

King was immense, 11 goals in 3 games now. And he creates a lot more.

Crouch and Sinclair all class (65 disposals between them).

Marshall with 16 disposals and 51 hitouts was dominant.

Steele stood up as captain to bring us home.

Wilkie as his vice kept big bud quiet and was the best defender on the ground by a mile.

Butler has run himself into some great form, hope it’s here to stay, a very complete game.

——

The pressure was awesome, the smothers, the tackles… 94 tackles… 94!!!!

A team performance to be very proud of.
A game clear in the top 5.
And a god damn win at the SCG.

I still just can’t get over how good Nas and Owens are.

Daisy saying buddy was the best forward tonight😹😹😹

I just rewatched it, he's got his arm free and falls on it. This was an absolute storm in a teacup. It's hard to claim it was dangerous when he's not pinned his arms or deliberately driven him head down.

We got quite a few our way too fortunately but it's hard to watch the game with the officiating this year.
Agree the 50s were a little lucky. Bloody harsh penalty.

You can't see them. But a lot of us can.
