Probably in the top 2-3 home and away wins over the last decade.

1- Unbelievable all ground pressure and intensity.
2- Great controlled aggression at ball and man.
3- Lowered our eyes and didn't blaze away much at all.

The usual stars were great ie. Zorks, Neal, Lyons, Rich, Andrews, Rich, the so called lesser lights that I was impressed with were >

1- Dev Robertson was immense, he is such a smart player, knows were to place himself in contests, has great hands, really good mark and his kicking was very good tonight, great gut runner as well.
2- James Madden's closing speed is such an asset puts great pressure on and his disposal and coolness in traffic is good, for me he's a lock for the rest of the season, brings something different to the backline.
3- Marcus Adams was great, one of his best games for us, another with really good pace and knows when to sag off and when to stay tight, getting a run of games now and is going to be great for us.
4- Linc McCarthy is so so good below his knees and fantastic at positioning his body in contests on the ground and in the air.

Less size, more explosion. It's less of an issue when we're able to nullify with insane, persistent pressure. Which we did for a half against Melbourne, but couldn't maintain it.
Pretty much my take on things. It's not a deal-breaker if we stick tackles and don't relent. Melbourne game was tough timing - the boys were itching for the bye.

We can always do with another strong midfielder.

CEY was meant to fill that void. Got that one wrong, but hope remains with Rayner if his tank improves.

Was the Linc free correct? He did slide but he wasn’t the one initiating contact

Got to feel for Rayner watching on in such great wins. Back 7 were fabulous tonight but hopefully Dizzy needs to slot in there later this season.

I had an interesting conversation with the dad of a Melbourne player and he was saying the round before the bye is always problematic for the coaches because the younger players are thinking more about hitting the town for a couple of days than the match . Usually a mental letdown in the lead up.

Not saying that necessarily applied to us because we came out firing.

Our tackling was so alarmingly poor at the start of the year. Would have to be one of the top few right now.

Teams are still trying to break them but we have found a sweet spot between not everyone gettting sucked in and when to gang tackle, cutting off exits and actually laying proper executed tough tackles.
it’s good to watch.

And if teams start to release and bomb instead of taking the tackler on we are getting that intercept game going.

Saw Cam walking to the game tonight by himself, the crowd noticed him at the lights and got a few selfies and Cam was in great spirits, his usual smiling self and open to chatting to people waiting at the lights, he also looked in terrific physical nick.

We walked past Rayner last game, fully kitted or in lions gear. Socks and all. He was happy to reply to our can't wait to see you back out there comment.

Then saw Jarrod Berry, with partner and not a single lions item on him. We didn't say anything to him, figure not wearing lions gear so was on his own time.

Think that was as well as I have seen us play, was thrilled when Payne was a late in, as this is the backline I have been wanting to see. Only Dizzy for mine could displace any of them, and then I'm unsure who. With Payne admittedly it's what I hope he can bring with his imposing build, and good closing speed.

If J Berry goes okay tomorrow and probably at least another week, we will start to look truly frightening, am becoming a huge Dev Robertson fan, reckon he can go on to be a genuine gun mid.

It's Thursday night but am already having a great weekend!

Bests:
1. Zorko and Oscar
2. Rich, Adams
3. Starce, Lyons, McStay, Dev, Linc.

Think Starce and McStay's contributions are being a bit undersold tonight, but that's not surprising with 10 or 12 to choose from. Big games from those two.

Down games for Ah Chee and Prior, but I'd back them in for another week.

The final free was ridiculous.

McCarthy was first to the ball and went in and got it. Why couldn't Stewart do the same instead of barging in over the top of him ?

The most bizarre decision of all in a night full of bizarre decision making and blowing the pea out of the whistle. So many knee-jerk frees paid from jumping at shadows but at the same time, blatant throwing, especially by the Cats, just totally ignored

To be fair, we got two or three going our way but that last one against Linc was horrendous.

Linc basically stops to pick up the ball, Stewart races in at a rate of knots and goes arse over in the process.

What is the player who is actually playing the ball supposed to do?

De-materialise into an alternative dimension??

It's not often you complain about the umpiring after a 7 and a half goal win but I thought they were terrible tonight.

I wasn't expecting a win but by God I'm enjoying it. Full on 4qtr effort. Was able to turn momentum back into our favor when needed. Not one Geelong player got over us tonight. Selwood the turd and whiney Dangerfield were neutered tonight.

This is the best back 6-7 available for us. Better balanced, having Payne means Andrews can play his game, Starce and Rich distribute well, and we look so much quicker. While we didn't really see much of Ah Chee or Prior, we saw even less of their opponents. And Madden, well he just adds a new dimension to our defense.

There is certainly no walk up starts for anyone returning from injury anymore. Going to have to show some real form in the two's to force their way in. Berry, Birchall, Lester etc will find it tough. Really liked tonight's 22, keep them together as long as possible.
