I'm a novice fan, but it seems there are moments when the boys seem to rush when they should take a little more time. Then other times they seem lackadaisical when they should be more aggressive.

It's pretty sad that I'm completely indifferent about the game. No emotion whatsoever, in fact I don't particularly care too much anymore.

The game sucks and is getting worse by the week. Literally.

We find new ways to suck. So disappointing because the kids could be anything, but hard to remain interested even then.

The problem is we don't play chaos footy. We try to hit targets that aren't on, which is a different game because then we're actually more likely to turn it over. Look at Hill drilling his kicks across the 50 which miss targets and end up in the perfect spot for the opposition to rebound it.

Yeah I agree. But a taste of afl can do wonders for people development. Gives them something to works towards again and feel for the step up.

Coach can't fix the list. We need a couple more years of good drafting to build something. It may still turn out that RTB has a ceiling that isn't consistently finishing top 4 even with good cattle.

Agree but its about developing him for the future, give him a taste. What do we have to lose we are going out backwards.

Got home but didn't bother to watch the end.

Had concerns about Ross coming in and after being told I have no clue we are beginning to see the cracks appear. The inability for his teams to score is what will stop us from winning a premiership. Kicked 100 points once this year. Not only that but we are poor defensively now too.

As for this game, once they hit the front in the 1st it was over. We never fired a shot, played dumb football, got torched in the middle once again.

All that and then you wonder why only 28k show to the game. A marquee fixture for a great cause and we can't crack 30k. You know why? Because we've been untrustworthy in the way we play for years on end, and so the supporters can't be ****ed turning up every week if they don't know which St.Kilda will turn up - and fair enough too.

Given our easy fixture we will make the eight but we won't cause anyone any trouble and we'll just sit and hope we improve the midfield over the summer.

Ultimately we are a boring, dour side with poor skill and footy IQ. Nothing more nothing less.

Meaningful action would involve addressing the impacts of CTE, but the AFL will never do that lol

I don't understand why the AFL has to tie all of its messaging to a particular round and why we as a club try to buy into it.

If we could stop sides kicking goals, sometimes multiple goals, in the last few minutes of pretty much every quarter we play in we may pinch a few extra wins and play finals.

Really disappointed in windy. Still like him but he is having a serious case of 2nd year blues.

You pointed out the key.

Ruckman, Marshall is poor man’s ruckman. Yes he can get a couple of hack kicks around the ground a take a mark or two, but he is not giving our mids any service. The 2020 final and first part of 2022 was mostly due to Ryder’s dominance in the ruck.

Also a couple of aggressive genuine mids will help. Crouch is carrying us but he can’t do it on his own. Steele is a reactive mid relying on his tacking to win the ball back. Same as Ross. Owens, Winghager, Philippou are just too green to hold the fort in the midfield.

Stocker, Crouch, Bytel are all aggressive tough mids and Winghager can run. Just something different, because Steele, Gresham and Crouch are not getting it done.

Actually like this. I'd put Owens and Sincs in the guts more too.

What hurts about tonight is that the Lions were not at their best, but we were just nowhere good enough to compete with them for long enough to win. If we'd played anywhere near our best we'd have won the game but we were really terrible especially in the first half.

Gresham is just heinously out of form. He has to go to Sandy for a spell.
Looking at the stats Phillipou had 12 handballs and 0 kicks. He's too handball happy and even handballs to guys under pressure. His handball can be a weapon but he's overusing it for a guy that can kick it 60m comfortably.
Marshall was so good earlier in the year but form has dipped a bit, hasn't been able to dominate an opponent for a while.
Nasiah was awesome.
Steele got going a bit towards the end but really poor first half. 12 tackles very good though and hopefully something he can build on.
Windy got a bath from Neale.
King, probably one of the worst games you'll ever see.
Dougal's 50 probably the dumbest 50 you'll ever see.
Our decision making both coming out of 50 and going inside 50 was shocking.
Paton and Byrnes are VFL standard players and if Jones and DMac get back fit they're gone.

It's sad to see this sense of deja vu play out in a big game with so much on the line. Finals are looking very shaky from here.

We declared last year a failure after 3 so I think I've given it enough time.
