But what were the stats yesterday? We’re talking about Carlton not what they did in other games.
To be +35 on hit outs but -11 first possession can’t equally be all the mids fault. Clearances maybe but first possession? Fair play to Carlton - they tactically beat us around the contest .

ned is tall & had a distinct advantage yet I saw plenty of taps go nowhere near where our mids could benefit...

the communication at the centre square huddle must have been about the ashes

Interesting conversation about the mids and whiteout stuff. I didn't look that closely but to me it would seem there's a lack of communication there if you're +35 HO with -11 first possession. That's really poor. I think either way there is no way that we can continue to roll with two rucks who don't provide anything anywhere else on the ground. We're essentially playing one player down each week. Just don't understand it.

Reeves gives us mongrel. Reeves is too soft IMO.

This seems to contradict itself.
Think he might have meant to say Meek gives us mongrel
FFS. Yes I mean Meek gives us mongrel.

Long night watching the cricket.

Going to this game, just want to see us have a crack. The dub would be an added bonus, just be competitive.

The one remaining game I’d love us to circle is Round 19 v Tiges. We’ve been their bunnies for way too long.

I will be there too. Ive been to many games at this ground. Surely we win won at some point.

Probably in 2024 or 2025.

Kosi needs to come in to give Lewis a bit of help
Didn't really light it up at Box Hill, got 1 goal. We have to realise he is playing VFL for another 3-4 games atleast. With 8 rounds to go, whatever he does there will ensure if he gets a go in the last 4 games.

If DGB & Fergus are among the goals in AFL, then unlikely he gets a game even if get a bag. With Sam's comments on DGB, I bet DGB is getting a go as fwd soon. Plus I think we will move to 1 ruck + Ramma/Ryan(by the end) for more of the rest of the games.

Kosi has a better chance of AFL game as a defender, the choice is clear if he is willing. He can do the same as now and hope the contenders for fwd roles fall over and he gets a go or he can take control of his destiny.

PS : I still expect Kosi to get the last list spot over Jeka.

Watch the game. He was good. No Ramsden so he shouldered the ruck load, had 18 touches, took several big marks and kicked a goal. Although DGB may get the nod this week, Kosi's absolutely in the frame for selection given he took 3 contested marks on the weekend while Hawthorn took 6.

CJ could be sub this week, he was simply a tier above VFL level, they couldn't go with him in the first half. He could be a serious one-half weapon while he gets back to full fitness. Serong is also in seriously good form and would have to be in the frame for a recall as a tall backman. He played with the kind of cool assuredness that we didn't see from any of our defenders on the weekend, Although admittedly the BH backline didn't get bombarded like the seniors.

How was Jiath disposal? Was he clean with his hands and decent disposal?
I rate him he just looked shocking this year at times with the fumbling.
I heard he was injured but playing him with Frost was kamikaze at times. The rest of the team gets put under the pump in transition as a result.

Kosi has had plenty of opportunity's. Green is not the answer as a direct replacement. It's time for DGB or Ramma to be given a solid run.

How did Hustwaite go ? I really liked him in the preseason he had class and was a good decision maker. something we lack.

This is cycle of life for Kosi fans

1. Disappointed at Kosi being dropped as a fwd.

2. Champion him for ruck/fwd role

3. Get dropped after failing in both

4. Argue team damaged his fwd role clarity by asking him to ruck
Champion him for pure fwd role

Can we please put to bed Kosi's ruck abilities. Does us no good when there are 4 rucks on the list and are healthy.

I'm not arguing that he's a great ruck. I'm pointing out that you're judging that he had a poor game and so he's headed for 3-4 more weeks when you
a) didn't watch the game
b) didn't read the player analysis about the game published by the coach

I find it funny that you mention "Kosi fans", I don't read any fans backing in Kosi's form. Nor should we, he's been average this year. But I sure do read a lot of overly emotional posts after every poor game he has, insisting that he's never been up to it and that his papers are stamped.

Then he gets selected again a week or so later because he's a good prospect and he's not that far off the pace. Being 22 and under 50 games, it won't really be surprising if he has improvement left in him.

Was down at the City Oval on the weekend to do some VFL coverage for Talking Hawks.

Kosi took the first centre bounces and was paired with young Clay Tucker as the ruck combination. Kosi competed well around the ground, he had good pressure and when he went forward he got the number one defender, which meant Shaggy instantly had the number 2 defender.

Brandon Ryan has a great pair of hands and got free from his opponent well with strong leading and positioning. His goal kicking unfortunately let him down with 0.6. He is very slight in terms of his build but clearly has a good footy brain. Believe the club will keep him on the list for next year if he continues showing what he has.

Jai Serong was tremendous in defence, in what is his 3rd game as a defender. He was moved back by Andy Collins to help him with versatility. Needs another game or two in defence before being rushed into the seniors.

Shaggy started off slowly before hitting the scoreboard and looking confident as a forward. Said he was moved forward as a mental refresher and to add some versatility to his game.

Cooper Stephens played well and said it's all about consistency before he gets a call up to the senior team.

Ned Long's physicality and work rate is immense. He spent time on ball, on the wing and also at half back.

CJ was on 80 minutes of game time and his speed certainly wasn't impacted by his injury. Still had some moments with the ball that put others under pressure but he will likely slot back in.

Bramble played as an inside mid instead of a winger. Tried hard in the guts all day.

O'Sullivan and Benmetts both offer some excellent pressure in the forward 50 and are building really nicely.

Next Box Hill home game is against Sandringham on the 29th of July. Highly recommend getting down there and watching the team. Some exciting things happening down there.

Good summary

Hopefully McCabe means we move beyond frost next year. Should be dropped but no replacement without Sicily and Jeka given I want DGB forward.
I don’t actually know the changes I just want new guys who have earned their spot. Ned Long and DGB must come in and Stephens close.take out anyone I don’t care it doesn’t matter this year

30 teams in the comp and they still manage to get byes every few weeks and now its a 2 week bye?

The AFL are just atrocious.

Other than that, great review. Thanks !

Reeves needs to go back to the 2s and dominate. Get some confidence, take 8 marks and find the ball around the ground. Bring Ryan in for him and get meek rucking 75 percent. If denver has another good game up forward then bring him in for Greene v north
Ins Ryan, Impey, brocky, mackenzie
Outs reeves, Harry, butler, finn
Cmacdonald the sub

Frost has to stay until Sicily is back
