Ramsden is nowhere near it currently.

I watched the VFL Suns vs BHH game - Moyle destroyed him.

I think Ramsden may need more time to bulk up a bit?

Regarding Meek & Reeves - when one has been subbed off, the other seemed to improve.

Maybe both thrive on being 'The Man' - There are at least 4 sides that single ruck, maybe that is an option going forward?

Choose one, and make it on the other to force a change via the VFL.

They've both been in the AFL system long enough to get their fitness up to solo ruck standards by now hopefully?

Watching the game, I couldn't figure out why Reeves or Meek weren't replaced when TDK went out - the extra class of McKenzie for example, may have evened the midfield contest up.

But what were the stats yesterday? We’re talking about Carlton not what they did in other games.
To be +35 on hit outs but -11 first possession can’t equally be all the mids fault. Clearances maybe but first possession? Fair play to Carlton - they tactically beat us around the contest .
If ned is hitting to the planned zones its on the mids to get to the zone and win it.

Sam mentioned in the presser that we were +35 hitouts, but -11 for first possessions. Stating the Midfield was well beaten.
Why would Sam drop a ruck for that? They held up their end of the bargain in there.

It's highly unlikely that he does, to my eyes and ears.

I think guys like MacDonald, Chad, Butler, are far more likely to come under pressure to keep their spots, when Brockman, Impey and CJ are going to be available.
The midfield were well beaten, but the rucks being +35 up isn't a pass for them. They were 2 dedicated rucks up against 2 part timers. They had to be more effective with their taps.

If we're going to persist with 2 rucks, one of them needs to be more dangerous up forward.

I think I might neeed to step out of this thread.
The one stat we absolutely brained the opposition in today was hitouts. +35.

Yet we couldn’t capitalise on it, but instead of working on that or even questioning the mids part in that, we should omit one of the guys who gave us that advantage and weaken that strength.

I mean, Sam might surprise me and make a call to cut a ruck from the lineup because they’re not doing enough across the park, but I just can’t see why he’d want something that is a clear strength to build on, to be weakened by match selection, unless he thinks there’s a very strong counter somewhere else on the ground.

One thing is certain, this board sure does not miss our ruck division when we lose a game.
I think Sam made a mistake in playing the two established rucks against Carlton given the outs they had in the ruck department. Was an opportunity to play Ramsden as he could have been a better match up for Silvagni.

However, that does not mean we have to change for the upcoming match.

Ramsden isn’t really a standalone ruckman at the next level- he should be played as a forward that can pitch hit in the ruck, but assume Box hill didn’t have any other ruckman so going up against Moyle who’s an AFL ready ruck it’s no surprise he was beaten…

His performances when played as a forward have been much better and the side was comprehensively beaten so I wouldn’t take too much stock out of that game…

Agree with your other points- not too many sides in the league are playing two rucks atm and Reeves+Meek don’t seem to be performing well together so I’m keen to see how we fare with just the one ruckman in the side…

I think our rucks missed a golden opportunity yesterday to punch the ball forward at every centre bounce. We could have gained so much territory, missed a golden opportunity against very undersized rucks.

Reeves gives us mongrel. Reeves is too soft IMO.

Although I do agree with the approach we didn't set-up for this and the few time that we did do it they hit it straight to a Carlton player.

Changes that have to be made this week:
in: Brockman, Cj, DGB
Out: Fergus greene, sam frost, harry Morrison
I've also heard that jai serong has had a really good game in the Vfl and he could possibly come in. I think it would be good considering he is a tall defender.

I've totally forgot about impey. He is a straight in aswell. Impey in instead of dgb.

Been banging on about this, we have a 7 footer who refuses to jump.

I used to blame The Monkey for this but nothing has changed since Hale has taken over

I think Serong might need a few more games as a defender before he is considered. Just as DGB needs a few more as a forward.

Not sure why Morrison is always on the chopping block. He did pretty well.
