Newcombe's skills have been off since he copped that knock. Hopefully he's ok.

Day is looking really good ahead of the ball (which I think is a harder position to play). I can see where the Bontempelli comparisons come from. Obviously nowhere near that level but the goal sense and the "always in the contest" tall mobile guy - very nice asset.

Breust looks like he's playing against VFL footballers. Just so much more confident and capable than anyone else on the ground.

Plenty to like but this game really feels like two coaches experimenting rather than two teams going all out for the win.

I’m not one to whinge about officiating too much - but the complete lack of hands in the back calls on West Coast in the first quarter and the bewildering umpiring late in that quarter have given them about 3-4 goals they didn’t earn. Despite only playing well for one quarter we should be leading 57-20something.
