He’s admitted to taking coc when playing if my memory serves me right in his doco. That is very much a stimulant, especially if taken on match day.
Crawf was the best player in the comp in the year he won the Brownlow, imagine the heights he would’ve reached if he was in a midfield with two other guns.
Crawford was the only thing we had to cheer for week in week out, during a pretty shitty period.
I'm pretty sure he never took anything on match day. Was all about the reward after playing well.

As for Crawf, I have a signed mounted jumper on my bedroom wall. So underrated.

During Shane’s 16 season career he played in 5 more wins (154) than losses (149). This included 12 finals games across 6 seasons where we made finals.

We had a couple of seasons when we were uncompetitive, but otherwise we were still very relevant and far more than a “one man band”.
Those couple of years must’ve felt a lot longer in my memory😂

Pretty disingenuous way to put it honestly. Crawf's career was bookended by finals appearances as part of a holdover from the great 80s team and then again at the start of the great 2008-2016 team. That accounts for 4 of his 6 finals appearances, save for one out of the box season in 2001 and scraping in by the skin of our teeth in 1996.

Anyone watching him through that period wouldn't have seen him as a bloke who played in a relevant team, or one who had a lot of help. We were consistently either middling or terrible for most of his peak as a footballer, and we were almost forced to merge. I feel like "one man band" is pretty fair, particularly in comparison to the midfield Cousins played in.

Sorry for the thread derailing btw.

The doco he did when were in the doldrums and the way he hanged in to make it to the gf and help us win is a mythical career. He was culturally defining in how we rose to the threepeat like not many other players. He is one of the most important players in this clubs life.

His running power, low bullet kicks and 30 meter hand passes would be perfect for the modern game to.

Indeed. Safest bet is that we want to win and Morrison best understands the way we want to play and offers the most to the side.

People can say what they want about Morrison but he generally slots in pretty seamlessly.
Guess that’s why he plays 2 games and gets dropped for 10.

Just surprised he’s getting a game right now’. He’s good depth and best 22 when we are in dire straits, which we currently are not.

Think he’ll have a good game tomorrow though.

That’s pretty disrespectful to:

1. a lot of very good Hawthorn players who played plenty of games with Crawford (eg. Platten, Dunstall, Everitt, Lekkas, Bateman, Holland, Hodge, Mitchell, Salmon)

2. Those other HFC players who played in these “irrelevant” sides who (over Crawford’s career) actually won more games than we lost.

I thought we were very relevant in all those seasons save for 1995, 2004 & 2005.

Agreed. Growing up in the late 90s / early 2000s - He was a shining star in a generally dark period.

it’s not only must win but i think a chance to catch some % on teams like geel, port and melb who are around the 100 mark.

i’m not confident of even winning but geez wouldn’t a 10 goal win put us right in the mix with finals largely in our hands

The importance of this game is now massive.

It’s the same every week. The boys must win. We won’t back into the finals. If we try then it’s the Port Adelaide game all over again, only as a season. We need to play each game on offense for four quarters. Do that, and we’re in. Don’t, and we’re not. So it’s all literally one game at a time stuff from here on out.
