Can't or doesn't? Has taken some good marks before, has all the attributes. I don't see why we should take such an accommodating approach - just do what the team needs or get out of the way.
Can’t. I’ve seen him drop Marks against players a foot shorter then him offering little to no pressure. Does not know how to play as a ruckman, fancies himself as a rover.

You would have thought so.

But I'm struggling to remember the last time a latish out for the opposition ever truly advantaged us.

Whereas I can think of plenty of times where supposedly 'depleted' line-ups have totally taken it to us, despite the significant players sitting out for our opponents.

I've got to the point where I'm happy to see us play opposition teams as close to full-strength as possible.

Tells us more about where we are really at. And hopefully prevents any let-down for our players in believing they're in for an easier day out due to the opposition being undermanned.

Hibberd or no Hibberd, the boys need to be ready to lay everything on the line come the first bounce Saturday night.

Season-defining game if ever I've seen one.

the classic "8 point game".

You're right.

Although I really could not care less what it means for the Dees if they knock us off.

I am just of the view that, if we lose, any finals footy we may still eke out this year could only ever be of the 'valuable experience' variety.

Win this and the whole gamut of options for our season still remain possible for mine.

If we go down, I think the season is going to finish relatively early for us this time around.

So heading down the highway for my first geelong game in a while, any recommended pubs near the stadium to enjoy a quiet brewskie before the game?

The Little Creatures brewery is a short walk from the stadium, though I think The Lord of Isles is a favourite amongst fans, too.

We always seem to lose games where the opposition lose key players.

Pendlebury was a late out when we beat the Pies earlier in the season and our midfield smashed theirs.

There's often a pre-match meet up at Lord of the Isles - I think The rabbi is looking for drinking buddies for Saturday night. Generally there's a few who turn up pre match for drinks

It's also a very short walk to the game

Well at least Viney can't take out Ablett again and wreck his shoulder-Abletts that is.

Gawn is the clear threat. No shame on Stanley if he is well outpointed, as long as he make a context, and keep with him around the ground to minimise his influence beyond the ruck contests.

I wouldn't be playing Henry forward. can't kick and not that pacey. Why are people suggesting another slow forward? Trend of the game is to keep the ball locked in your own half , so playing pacey hard chasing forwards is the go. I think Henry needs a rest and put Hendo in. Don't play Taylor and Buzza goes out. JJ or Simpson go out and Murdoch comes in. Hibberd out now so a tall forward is an option, but don't want slow Smith up against Gawn, so some thinking to do for Scott and MC.

He's taken 4 and 5 marks and kicked 2.2 the last fortnight while playing primarily as a ruck and getting 40 hitouts a game.

I don't think he should be able to just assume that the ruck position is his God given right. If he wants in then let him do what we actually need, not what he wants. If he fails then try Abbott, Plugga, Buzza, etc. Doesn't bother me.

Henry slow? Yeah, OK.

Im not over excited with seeing Henry forward..but id not describe him as slow.. far from it. He has the type of game that could make an interesting foil , it would be a test for his marking to see if he can take them while his opponent is trying to spoil but Im not convinced he is really a strong enough kick atpit to make the most of opportunities. Any idea how many goals he has kicked at less levels?

He came to the club as more of a wing/forward. Kicked 21 from 12 games at Falcons according to this:

This is deserving of another look. he's not the most fluent kick for goal you will ever see,but can get the job done,he's a bit Warwick Capper distance wise, with a Geoff Thompson run up. http://www.geelongcats.com.au/video/2016-11-28/rookie-draft-jack-henry
