Going to have to disagree here chief. Clearances were in favour of the pies. And yet PA had an enormous amount more of forward 50 entries. PA had it running their way from the centre most of the time.

Still baffles me how the pies were ahead on clearances when rhe % of time in PA f50 was considerable as were the entries.
We were turning the ball around at half back a fair bit after you get the clearance. Due to the weather our ball use off of half back wasn't that great. You got us a few too many times on counter attack and scored more easily than us when you did.

Wines had 31 metres gained for the night, lmao. Less than the ultimately subbed Lycett who had 48. Not a single mark between either of them.

Meaningless players tonight. Wines even had 70% TOG. A phenomenally bad game.

I’d like to think both are physically impaired because if not, both are finished at this level.

Game of the year. They were always going to come and by George we almost had them. Needed to capitalize our scoring opportunities in the 3rd (a’la the last 11yrs).
still gutted I wasn’t there to witness is - what an epic! Hopefully we get them next time on Sept 30 at the G

How good is this melt

I don't normally get this angry after a loss but against Collingwood it really hurts to lose a game we should've won if not for the same old goal conversion rate. It's infuriating when it costs us against Adelaide and Collingwood.

Wow what a bunch of pants pissers.

Sucks to lose, but we've had our share of arsey wins against Essendon and Sydney so whatever.

We actually proved we HAVEN'T imploded tonight. That was the best we've looked since the bye. Yeah it didn't quite go out way, but Collingwood had to pull out some ridiculous s**t to get over the line. That luck runs out at some point.

I'd much rather lose this than in September. Butters was seriously pissed after that loss. Our problem is the spread is too thin, our bottom 6 are killing us. If those players can lift just a few % we can still win this - butters and rozee are absolutely flag calibre and JHF looked the best he had in a while tonight.

I get we've all been burned by Hinkley, but FFS he's on the boundary conducting interviews. He's not in control. He won't be reappointed as head coach.
JHF is definitely in the flag calibre category.

Agree with all that until you mentioned Teakle (state league player at best)

I am miles away from wanting Teakle picked but Lycett was so, so bad tonight. Just offered nothing. We're theoretically giving up a better tap ruckman for a competitor who can impact around the ground and nullify good rucks. Lycett was comfortably the worst player on the ground tonight and wasn't much better last week.

Wines is our biggest problem. He can only get more useless on a dry day and at the MCG.

He and Boak are a reminder of our piss blasting past. But at least Boak has the tank to run all day, and sometimes uses his experience to think through situations. Wines offers zero and the coaches won't dare drop him.

I know our assets dried up with the JHF trade but I have a feeling the club didn't think we would be 'this good' so were content with leaving us with a s**t ruck, s**t key defender depth and s**t overall depth. Like any one of the three issues rectified on our list would probably put us ahead of Collingwood this year.

If 2021 and 2022 seasons were swaped around, I wonder if there'd be more urgency over the offseason and we'd be in better shape right now.

The Jonas situation seems indicative of this, beyond anything.

It’s as if the boardroom resolved to float for 12 months with a lame duck coach and lame duck captain who’d both ride off into the sunset together, before loading up to go without them and Lycett, Fantasia and select others off the books.

Might just be me but Boak is probably the first one I trust least in close game situations

...it's actually no surprise our kicking has looked a bit better when it isn't Wines and Boak carrying the disposal count.

More disappointed the longer I think about it.

This sort of result just typifies the Hinkley era:
  • Lost a home night game
  • Had significantly more inside 50's
  • Choked on key set shots.
  • Suffered a brave loss

There's just so much about it that is typical of what we've always seen. We've lost 2 prelims by a kick, 2 SANFL GFs by a kick, we just don't win these big games. I can't remember the last time we won a real true statement game.

I hate that I'm so broken with this team. I struggled to get into it in the last quarter, the peak part of the game, because I just didn't believe we were going to win. Always just felt we'd find a way to lose.

We've got some serious fitness concerns with Lycett and Dixon. We're under significant pressure to finish 2nd now.

I just don't believe anything is coming from this season, and can't see myself investing real emotion into this team. If I do I feel I'll just be burnt and I personally can't handle it again.

Darcy Cameron was probably the best player on the ground, Scott Lycett clearly the worst.

Raw clearance numbers are a bit of a junk stat, your clearances were generally of a much higher quality, and it was down to ruckwork.

I'm certain Lycett is playing injured and is only playing so Stinkers doesn't have to play Hayes.
