Ned Long would have to be next in line to debut. He’s one of the few players that can play as a forward/inside midfielder on the list.
As Cripps is showing tonight a big midfielder who can go forward and kick a couple of goals a game is super valuable and not something we have had on our list for a long time (not since Roughy played that role)

Whether they go forward or not they must have a second position they are great in, makes any team so much more balanced and helps when contending. The one big con of our team but looks to be changing though

Like Sammy’s approach for the future. Nash named as RR and little Newk as Rover. Hasn’t dropped Ward or Macca. Reckon Shiels knows his role clearly at the club this season and bet my house on it he ain’t disappointed with 3 premierships in the brown and gold. Wouldn’t surprise if he ain’t a coach under Mitch next year!

Sends a clear message to all (not just seniors) that Sam means business. Very happy with the team. We just need to find a space for Day once he is ready next week and we have the best team we could put on park.
Its close.

I've got Impey and Bramble in our best team though.

So we need 3 outs based on that. Finn is one.

Agree with you but I didn't forget them. Good depth to have to cover for injuries and emergencies. We also have few others youngsters to break into the team. Ex: Ned Long - a kid I am sure we would come to like in time.

Anyone else heard that Shiels’ partner is about to give birth and that’s why he’s out?
If so that would make sense, Shiels being dropped and not even an emergency is strange given he wasn't horrible on the weekend.

Surely Hartigan comes in next week against Carlton?
Depends how we go this week, if we lose and one of Frost/DGB shits the bed maybe. If they don't think he's good enough to be in the best 22 now I doubt he'll suddenly become good enough to play against an in form forward line like Carlton's.

Shiels attends zero centre bounces against North, so whoever is replacing his role will be playing on the outside.

I imagine this means Breust will push Wingard and MacDonald up the ground at times.
Shiels spent a fair bit of time on the wing. Wings to be Morrison, Ward and Maginess? maybe Macdonald at times
