Why the **** do you use so many question marks??????????????
Because I ask a lot of questions...and/or because the things I say are questionable.
Was in a hurry, didn't proof read it, so yes, there were a couple not needed perhaps.
Do you have any further questions?

Doesnt really make sense to just dump half the senior players after 1 poor game like that, as much as the bed wetters want it
I do agree that reacting to drop the senior players after 1 week is abit tough, however on the other hand, they are the same senior players who have been s**ting the bed most weeks for the last 4 years..........

Fresh start with a new coach. McQualter had nothing to do with the last few years

I don’t know what’s gone on behind closed doors. But a refusal to make bold decisions at selection was a hallmark of Simpson’s time, we had a lot of thrashings and unacceptable performances over the last few years and players paying the price at selection was never a consequence. That trend certainly seems to be continuing.

Specifically, I can’t believe Flynn has survived that game. He may not be a “senior” player, per se, but he’s 27. I’d like to see us invest more time in Jack Williams in the ruck and let Archer Reid develop as a permanent forward.

And I thought Cripps was poor on the weekend, we’ve got a glut of players in his position and he was one that could have gotten the axe.

Kelly we don’t have much choice, there’s not a lot to replace him with in the middle currently. And Gov obviously isn’t going anywhere, he’s our reigning B&F.

I don’t want wholesale changes in the wake of that Suns game. But I’d like to see something other than just the forced changes.
I agree that Cripps looks done and J Williams may be our best ruck option (we just don't know it yet). However, the coach is probably mindful that he's rolled in with a new gameplan and there must be questions on whether the issues are the players or the plan.

I get why he might take a few weeks to back guys in while pointing out in the reviews the individual problems that they have control of rectifying (eg not running back, fumbling the ball). After a few weeks he will be able to drop players if they haven't improved their individual efforts and it will be clearly on them, not the gameplan. You can't complain if you got feedback and still didn't improve.

I still think this will all settle down by mid year once the coach fine tunes his coaching and the players lift their efforts. The squad is better than last year, so should still be able to win 4 or 5 games minimum. I'm still hoping for a run of wins in the back of the year to show we've turned a corner.

Last statement dropping was when woosh dropped Wirra, who was playing well.
He played better from that point on and dropped onto the full forwards lane including hall in the finals.
Have we dropped a bigger name than that since ?

Lol mini flipping sucks. We are either playing the two worst rucks in the comp or going with a shortish back line and allowing Andrews to dominate.

As has already been said in this thread, if Andrews dominates at least it's getting down there.

That in itself would be a huge step in the right direction after last week

He can still dominate when brissy lock it in their forward half. Regardless Flynn should either have been dropped or Jack Williams off Temu shouldn’t have been named in the squad.

Feel Gibney and Graham need to play inside Mid this week going to be a wet game.
Ginbey should have his magnet stuck to hbf with super glue and never moved again.

He's one of few things that are working for us at the moment. Can't undo thing that are working to hope to try and fix things that aren't (and it wouldn't fix the midfield anyway).

The game has been reviewed heavily with McQualter sounding confident he’s identified the problem(s) and how they can be rectified
To me it sounded like the main issue he identified was too many players getting sucked into the contest. Happened a lot when GC already had clean possession and were going to walk it out anyway.

We need player's to get from stoppage to stoppage Ginbey can do that so can Graham our two best runners... It's going to be a wet slugfest worth a shot for mine

This has been a degenerative issue at the club since 2019.

One of A.Simpson's instinctive reactions to things going very badly was to throw as many players as possible around stoppage to win contested possessions without much recognition of things on the outside.

It's resulted in a team that plays like a bunch of undisciplined U13s - constantly ball-watching and getting sucked in rather than maintaining width and closing out the exits should the opposition gain possession.

It's also one of the main reasons why the team is incapable of offensively breaking away from a clearance unless it is directly out the front of the stoppage.

If A.McQualter can correct this behaviour, it will be a significant step towards making West Coast look like a real team once again.

Watch Hawthorn. Mitchell the innovator. Little Hardwick on Weitering. Just running him all over the place leaving Choi to do what he likes. Consider doing the same to Andrews

Would actually consider doing the opposite. With J.Waterman out, H.Andrews is probably more than capable of out-running West Coast's marking options in attack. Inviting him to roam up the ground taking intercept marks would make it near-impossible to move possession effectively beyond the centre square.

In order to nullify him as much as possible, a player should be sacrificing their own game to drag him [H.Andrews] to the goalsquare at every opportunity.

B.Frampton had just 2 disposals in the 2023 Grand Final, but his efforts in tempering H.Andrew's influence were decisive to it's outcome.

Simpson really showed that he was out of ideas in the commentary. That doesn't mean Mcqualter is a good coach, considering he was the left offers after all the other candidates withdrew - presumably because they didn't want to work with pyke?

I'm liking this diet coke esq melt from Fivey.

It's an older Melt, but it checks out.

Annoying as it is, i think the changes this week has played out basically like we all thought it would. No changes other than forced injuries, despite what the players deserve. Everyone was so collectively shit, it's hard to drop certain individuals.

Cripps, Kelly, Flynn, Long and Hunt all deserved to be dropped, and yet they all get a Mulligan.

I'm more filthy about the Waterman fiasco. The mismanagement of his injuries with the ducks & drakes "he's not injured" reporting.

1. Some candidates ‘withdrew’ but not all. (And we weren’t privy to the behind the scenes conversations with those possible applicants which led to them not applying.)

2. Could you please expand on ‘they didn’t want to work with Pyke’?
Specifics please.
