Good insights as always Macca.

We really need a good win this week with some convincing, positive ball movement to kick start our season and give the whole club a shot of confidence. I hope the boys chosen in the 22 can deliver - I think they can!

I'm looking forwrad to watching the curtain raiser. Anyone know of any Legs fans who are turning out and staying on for the AFL match?

same as you sam50
i havent been to a SANFL match for 4 or so years and i will go early to watch.
Now that the magpies are truely part of the PAFC again i will take more of an interest

Im in a similar boat, however I do go to 2 SANFL matches a year on average

I will go to many more, now that the schedules dont clash with power schedules and also now that there is a more formal alliance, i will support it 300%!

I see that Darling guy for West Coast kicked a couple of goals last week, surely it can not be the same one we passed up on at LAST years draft?

This ones playing AFL NOW... has not even had a game in the WAFL reserves yet:eek:.

Plus hes a Key Position type player, all our Big Footy experts on the Port board will tell you they take about 200 years before they even look like playing AFL (Butcher example)

He played all last year at WAFL League as a 17/18 year old. Probably another reason he dropped a bit as he was playing against mature bodies and struggled a bit.

But he certainly looks a player. Loved his game. Got some bustle about him.

Awesome preview by Macca :thumbsu:

This is my five-minute write-up on what I expect to happen.

West Coast beat North Melbourne last week. North are probably around the same rank as us this year IMO but this game was in Perth and West Coast have a pretty good record there against most teams. It was also round one and North might have not played out of their skin to win.

We obviosly lost to Collingwood which was expected. However, we didn't completely give up and there were patches where we looked even decent. Although the end result was a 75 point loss, we will go into the game against West Coast with our tails up and with us having won six of our last 7 against them and the game being at AAMI you would think we would win.

I've been to a few Port v Norwood SANFL games at Alberton in the last few years, they have a feeling of being at one of those historical re-enactments of old battles, like they do in the UK. I'm going to try to get to AAMI quite a bit earlier than usual. May. Not. Succeed.

Every time i seen him play last year i thought this lad will make it at AFL level, thing is he is young and looks like a footballer with a footballers body. Some recruiters don't like that, developing players gives them a couple more years on the pay roll and lots of excuses why the team is going backwards.
I think you got a bargain...hope he turns out ok for you except when you play us:)

240, Darling is shorter than Salter and has less tricks. He didn't slip to pick 30 because he had sex or because he played in the WAFL last year.

The GC had about 15 picks and they still didn't want him.

Need to look past what players will do in their first 5 games mate :D Be patient with Butch and D.Stew.

It was also round one and North might have not played out of their skin to win
North went into the game with 8 of their best 22 out, and without a recognised ruckman (played a first gamer who gave Cox about 10cm)

it wasnt a surprise at all that WCE won that game. Probably should have won by alot more

And the Eagles didn't have Kerr, Butler, MacKenzie or Naitanui playing, 4 of their best 22. They also lost a 4th year mid in the first quater replaced with a 1st gamer so thats 5 best 22 out 10 minutes into the contest, then add losing their leading goal kicker in the 3rd leaving Norths one extra player.

Sure Norths didn't have their best side out there but the Eagles didn't either and were a man down for the last 50 minutes of the game.

That's all well and fair but the quality of North Melbourne's outs was considerably better than the quality of West Coast's missing players or out during the game.

Goldstien - Naitanui
Grima - MacKenzie
Ballanastic - Kerr
Greenwood - Butler
Petrie - ??
?? - we were a player down

Anyway its all a bit of a moot point. This week as last week is a 50 / 50 game ....... actually maybe 55 / 45 with Port a nose in front due to home ground advantage and the Eagles travelling after playing in an oven.

Should be a close game.:thumbsu:

On current form the listed North Melbourne players you had are all better than those West Coast players reputations aside. My point is West Coast should have beaten an undermanned North Melbourne at home in a sauna (as you've mentioned).

This week is a different proposition. I'll agree with you that it's 55/45 Port Adelaide's favour mainly because I have no idea if good Port or bad Port will show up.

It'll come down to the battle of both our average to below average midfields units. Until either unit play with the consistency that is required to compete week in week out we'll both struggle to push the 8.

Am I the only person who didn't get a free ticket with my membership?

My Norwood loving mate wants to go and I never got the email for a free ticket. Problem is I'm working till 12:30 or so and he wants to watch the Norwood game and stay for the WCE when I get there.

oh and I still haven't got my new membership card. Good one Port
