Maybe on the patented J2S Ranking System, but according to Champion Data, Reeves was.

Ned Reeves 10.6

Ivan Soldo 7.3

Not the very same champion data system that's considered a joke on here? Remember how CD was laughed at last year after they revealed their elite player list? I suppose we only like it when it suits us, that kind of stuff is quite typical around here.

SC points he was lower, which is a more consistent measurement.

Either way, I'm pretty sure everyone is taking the extra touches, marks, tackles and goal of Soldo, plus his huge contest at the death that helped win them the game over Reeves' 9 touches (4 of which where clangers) and 4 extra hitouts.

That's not how clangers work.

Reeves also had more score involvements and less turnovers than Soldo. We can pick at any little stat but their outputs were so very similar that you can't really say one was way ahead of the other.

Fair point re clangers, that isn't the only way they are accounted for (4 vs 3 and TO's 1 vs 2).

I don't really agree regarding the output though, not that one was far and away better, but which would you prefer - 12 touches, 3 marks, 6 tackles and a goal over 9 touches, 1 mark and 3 tackles?

Keeping in mind disposal efficiency of Reeves was 56% compared to Soldo's 83% and pressure acts were 9 vs 20.

To keep it fair, Reeves had an extra clearance and more contested touches (3) and four extra hitouts. I don't know the hitouts to advantage, but I imagine Reeves' would have been much better.

CD certainly has its quirks, not something to use as an absolute measurement, but it shouldn't be dismissed either. None of that is really the point anyway, SSSSSS said Reeves was the highest rated Ruckman, which he was.

Supercoach is a terrible measurement to rate players! It's purely stats based and nothing more.

We smashed Richmond out of the middle for the first 3 quarters. Reeves' work as a Ruckman was a big part of that.

I had a very brief debate with someone on the Hawks Facebook about 3 months ago, who said very similar things about James Worpel….
Everyone knew what Worpel was capable of. He was a PC winner. He just needed exposure without the likes of Titch and Jaegar in his way.

Kosi is just not a natural forward. He tries so hard, but he doesn't have the forward IQ all great forwards do.

If he clunks some marks, provides aggression and effort, he may have a role in the future.

It's a shame Jack O Sulllivan isn't fit as his fwd pressure would be what we missed on the weekend. Just can't have Breust Chad Moore Brocky without introducing someone else with speed. Brocky has it but it can be conditional. What we would give for a prime Puopolo...

As for the talls, Ryan has done enough to show he can take a mark but worries the crap out of me defensively at VFL so I think the AFL is a bridge too far. But I won't be unhappy if he gets a game. With few games left we prob need to see him and Serong before the season is out. I wonder whether we can make Ryan a 2nd ruck...

God, he moves so much like Sam Mitchell, to my eye!
Yeah there was a moment on the weekend ..dunno which quarter.. where he stopped , pivoted, turned , arched his back to evade and you could be forgiven for thinking geez is that Sam Mitchell..was absolute mirror image.. and oozed class..

Would love to see Mackenzie get a run. Not sure where he plays though given our mids are knocking it out of the park and CMac is also dominating in the other role MacKenzie would play really well in.
I reckon McKenzie will be kept at box hill so he qualifies for their finals, giving him an extra month (hopefully) of footy

Wizard.

He's pretty much done.

It's not a question of effort. He just doesn't have the skills or nous of a forward.
Had enough skills and nous to kick 4 and be named in the bests for Box Hill. It's no time to be stamping his papers, I think he'll come in for DGB.

Serong has been terrific for weeks while Mackenzie had 8 clearances, 8 i50s, and 7 tackles from 28 touches. All of them a good chance to play.

This is generally the exact time of the year that players papers get stamped.
