Given the Crows will play a Prelim in Adelaide, we need to avoid that at all costs.

Well, yeah - if we win, we get the home prelim, if they win and we lose they get the home prelim.
We are looking too far ahead but if we can snag second, I strongly believe we can beat one of GWS/Geelong at the G. Just gotta get there first.

I reckon, having watched Geelong my whole life, I'll decide what is a significant win for us and what isn't. Just as you'll decide what is a significant win for the Tigers. Like I said, Richmond are deserved favourites given the state of play, and a Geelong win will be an upset. Simples.
I agree with you. God knows I am nervous as heck, you guys being our bogey team and all, but we are never going to get a better chance to try and shake that bug bear off than this week. You are down to half strength, we're almost full strength, will basically be full-strength if Jack gets back, if we're a serious top 4 chance then we need to beat you Saturday, no ifs or buts about it. If you win, it is an upset and it also puts our credentials under the microscope again, hopefully Richmond, no offence or anything, just brushes you aside and moves onto Freo in Perth next week.

Don't think that is correct. If you both win round 1 you would only play each other in the GF.
If we win and they lose, they move to the same side of the draw as us and then if they win, we play them in the prelim.

yep that's exactly right. how to avoid playing each other in a prelim. :)

Edit: I think a sneaky edit occurred.

No offence taken. Your post is spot on.

It being an upset and it being a "win for the ages" are so far apart its ridiculous that you've compared them.

Anyone got advice about driving down to Simmonds? Is there much in the way of parking?
Advice?
As your attorney, I advise you to rent a very fast car with no top. And you'll need the cocaine. Tape recorder for special music. Acapulco shirts. Get the hell out of Melbourne for at least 48 hours.

GET two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that you need all that for the drive, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection,.... The only thing that really worries me is the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge,

You sir, appear to be on a high due to the clubs unaccustomed heights on the ladder.
My advice is to just breathe slowly and calm the f#*@ down.

Finals are still a few weeks away.
Its too early. Wait till we beat the Cats.

I've been saying this in jest recently but where actually is mopsy ?
Dude hasn't surfaced for ages.
I feel like this would be him trying to figure out how we are third with no recognised talls.

ive been about just looking.swore of this site awhile ago now. will say nothing has happened to make me change my mind on where we are at.
Still cant see us winning a final and still think we are just one or two bad injuries away from the cliff.
Will also add thought it was a good win against the hawks especially without Riewoldt.

Will sit back and quietly watch win lose or draw. Will allow people around here to enjoy where we are at without my slant on things.

Win lose or draw this site the club the supporters the game itself i get little enjoyment out of any of it anymore and this is most definately my last yr unless something dramatic comes along to respark the passion for the club and the game.

So enjoy the silence i think even posters on here deserve the chance to enjoy the wins and for their sakes hope the club can deliver something tangible for the lot of you its too late for me.

Let's just make the 4 first and worry about the rest then. Few blokes getting ahead of themselves.

Agree.
But gotta let people dare to dream. This is what the football season is all about, enjoy it now and picture scenarios where we can go all the way because the season will be over for everyone in less than two months.

I'm 26 and this is the first time I can actually see us having a chance of winning a flag. Even when we came close to finishing fourth (5th twice-2013&2015) I never once actually thought we could win the flag those years.

I've often thought that. The squiggle is a troll of Richmond. Awesome thread, and I love his work. But no matter what we do it hates us :p:D
It has us in a world of our own. I reckon that's a good thing!

Happy you responded but dude that was just depressing. You could argue any club that gets injuries to key players would be close to the cliff. We've shown, so far, we can get the job done without Jack, and that was our most worrisome injury to get as we admittedly have no tall back ups.
I'm also confident we could still compete well if Rance gets an injury.

Not trying to convince you to stick around but just don't really understand how you can view the current list as you do.

Not much else I can say really.

I know what he means. Basically everyone is sh*t this season. It's the only explanation to how a side with just 1 KPF and a rookie ruckman who started playing the game 3 years ago can sit 3rd.

If we don't achieve the ultimate success this season the fear is that we get overtaken by decent sides and found out for what we really are.

I've been prescribing to this theory all season but now we are a lock for finals and a legitimate chance for top 4 I'll enjoy it for what it is - an exciting season in which almost any side who makes the 8 can knock another off on its day!

Glad I have MRC membership which guarantees me tickets for the last weekend of September ;)

Yeah, but this wounded cat is cooked. A third of Geelong's best 22 won't be playing, due to either injury or suspension. And we're not talking fringe players here, but structurally pivotal players. I mean, seriously, Buzza Wiley will probably be Geelong's main KPF, and he's played all of three games. I've no idea who covers Selwood and Duncan, as our 'depth mids' (Horlin-Smith and Lang) are also injured. Richmond are playing a shell of a side, which is reflected in the current betting. This isn't a game that should 'test' a top 4 team, or even a mid-table team. Put it this way: I'll view a Geelong win this weekend as one for the ages.

I don't dispute you're undermanned but If we we're playing a shell then the betting would be Tiges 1.04 to cats 8.01. Current odds are 1.60 to 2.30.... Stop making excuses, Duncan and Hawkins only have themselves to blame. We've got a lot of inexperienced players as well, all who are under 20 games under their belt.

So basically, we are a shit side made to look good by other shit sides? :p

if they play anything like they did against swans they will cop an all mighty belting if we play to our potential . I don't expect them to play like that again mind you .

Not making excuse, just saying we are considerably undermanned, and I'd be very surprised if we win. Also, for context, this is the first time in a decade a team has gone in favourites against Geelong at home. Gives you a sense of the state of play.
