No. No resting anyone. Percentage could well decide where we play our first final. They get a week off before week one anyway.
Yup percentage could mean GWS at the MCG as opposed to GWS at god knows where they play.
Its the only percentage we need to worry about and its close enough to catch and pass.

**** I wish I was as confident as you lot. The cats have always found a way against us. Dont get me wrong, on paper we should win by 10 goals, unfortunately the game isnt played on paper :(
I'm not looking at it from who we have and who they don't have, it's more the way we're playing against the way they're playing. We're exactly the type of team that they struggle against: manic pressure, rapid ball movement, and a quick and agile forward line.

I think it's about 45 points difference.

The good thing is that come round 23, the Cats v Giants is on the Saturday and with us playing on Sunday we'll know exactly our standing and whether percentage matters before we play the Saints.

Got my ticket 2 months ago. F****en expensive but I haven't been there for so long I'm really looking forward to it. Last time I went there you could just go general admin must have been in the 90s. What year was the game we beat them there when KB was coaching us? That was the first game I saw at KP and then only one more time after that I think we lost by less than a goal.

This is one we really shouldn't lose which makes me less confident than ever.
There's been a few of those types of games this year. We seem to be ticking them off OK, with the odd exception of course.

This helps, thank you

Selwood out, Hawkins out, tigers flying, cats stumbling, potential for rain, media predicting us to win, bandwagon being pumped up, high profile game..... the stars are aligning for a richmond patented snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. I'm steeling myself for the let down.... too many mental scars

1990. There are some highlights on youtube here

How much better is the commentary? While not brilliant, it's light years ahead of what we have to put up with now. Does anyone miss the extra two or three voices that are never needed?

Mate how am i supposed to know all the stupid nick names BT gives players if he doesnt shout them at me annoyingly.

Tigers by 7 goals

This is not the MCG. It's a long but very narrow ground. I hope we're ready to adjust our gameplan a bit to recognise that fact.

Geelong has done well there over the years by intercept marking at half back and then rapid ball movement down the guts. They usually move it by foot, spotting up a target around CHF, before going for the pass inside 50.

With no forwards to speak of, they will look to slow the game down and make it a heavily contested game. They'll try to physically intimidate our small forwards and will put a lot of time into Cotchin. They know Martin will want to impose himself, so watch out for lots of gang tackling whenever he gets the pill.

We can't play "pretty" football. I'd like to see us defend deep and then run and carry the footy. I think we can expose their mids and defenders with raw pace coming out of half back. If we get it over the top (watch out for a few Dusty torps) then Caddy, JR8 and Butler could have a big afternoon.

If we lose, it will be because we got sucked into a territory game and let them clog up our forward half.

Go Tigers.

Dave P.

Well argued post.

But do they have the cattle left to play a contested game?
