Only 2 changes with no credit given for continued performance in the VFL (eg karnezis kennedy witts) and no imaginative inclusions ( eg Cox), that sends a strong message to the playing group about performing!
If the team play as boldly as the selection panel does Geelong will belt us!
Seriously are we that deluded to think we are on the right track when we are the equal worst performing team in the comp over the last three months!

Correct. We tolerate mediocrity at Collingwood. Always have. If we were more ruthless as a club, we would have won a lot more flags.

Would love to win for all the usual reasons

Another one would be if we win this week and against the Bombers we can finish in 9th place potentially with 11 wins and a better %. Means we won't have a summer of listening to that tired line being trotted out about Buckley taking us down each year since he started and will kick start in into season 2016

I'm thinking Geelong could crack the tonne after what they served up last week. 100 point plus loss is definitely on the cards.
Chin up Ed, think a little more positively. That's very unlikey.

Geelong drew with St.Kilda. Which they would have seen as horribly unacceptable given their finals are on the line. Tonight is it for them. They HAVE to win. They are going to come out like absolute maniacs against a young group who is both mentally and physically shot.

Pendlebury had a pretty big game last week and we still got flogged by 91. Pendles will be tagged out of the game tonight and Swan will be his normal mostly ineffective self, hence why he never gets tagged. Cloke is having a career worst season, Elliott has all but disappeared off the face of the earth, Reid is still making his way back aaaaaaand we have what else going for us exactly that makes you think this match will be competitive?

Geelong will smash us, make no mistake. It's just a matter of the margin.

There you go again swan bashing Ed
If Swanny as bad as you say why is he coming second for the pies in coaches award and potentially leading the copeland. I guess you are a better judge of players than the 18 men coaching in the AFL

Really don't care what you say dude. As I said, there's a reason Swan doesn't get tagged. If opposition coaches felt he was as devastating as you and "Collingwood" seem to believe, they'd be tagging him week in/week out. Fact is, they don't and haven't for some time.

Because most opposition coaches know that 30 plus posessions from Pendlebury/Adams/possibly even Steele > 30 plus poss. from Swan. I'm sorry that bothers you to hear that, but currently I have a little more to back up my theory than you do.

gC do you think we have gone forwards this year?
If so interested to see how that could be.
Aside from the continued AA output from Pendles and Swanny, the excellent goal kicking accuracy of Elliott and Fasolo which has been evident in prior years and the promise of Moore Marley and DeGoey not a lot to cheer about.
Sidey, Frost, Elliott, amongst those who have gone backwards. Easier draw better injury run and most likely worse win loss?

There has been some damage control from the club this week and a fair bit of angst around here. Based on form I cannot tip the Pies but I am expecting a big response to poor effort last week. On paper we actually look pretty good. I think we should move Reid back as a spare man to make use of his elite kicking and to hopefully free up space in the forward line. Greenwood should be able to limit Selwood's influence whilst allowing Swan, Pendlebury, Sidebottom and Adams to rack up big numbers. It would be poetic justice to end the Cat's season tonight.

This is the problem.

Most on here said after we were 8-3 that there should be no excuses. We had the easiest draw we've had in at least 6 years and barring a horrible injury run (which we haven't had), we should have been making finals this year. But then not only did we not make finals, we capitulated in the EXACT same manner as last year. Only a tad worse.

I'm sorry, but at some point, positivity has to give way to reality.

Ed you really are deluded. You actually think you know more about the game than the coaches?? How does swanky coming second in coaches ward back up your theory, PLEASE explain that one!
And are you seriously saying Adams a better disposer of the footballand more damaging on the scoreboard than Swanny

Your theory is rubbish. Swan can and will have a massive influence on the game tonight. Looking forward to your retraction when I get home.

In terms of his disposal quality they're roughly in the same vacinity. I just think Adams is a little more....effective? (for want of a better word) than Swan with his posessions. Take as an example, Swan will do a lot of the old Ablett Jr. 1/2 handballs and fluff up his numbers and that will count as an "effective" stat because he hit his target.

But odds are a handball from Adams was from the bottom of a pack to someone on the outside who gets us a clearance.

I look forward to debating such a subjective topic with you where you will I'm sure rely on the stats that say Swan yet again got 35 posessions to "stick it to me" and show me how wrong I am about Swan's game. Where as I'll rely on my eyes. Stats can lie a hell of a lot.

And your explanation re the coaches not rating swan but him being the second placed pie you conveniently ignored?

Conveniently ignored what? That Bucks likes to give Swan a lot of votes? Awesome. Paul Licuria used to win Copelands like candy and he was the turnover king of the AFL.

If Swan could more consistently do what he does most ANZAC Days, then I'd be more inclined to gush over him the way most Collingwood supporters do. But as it stands, I've never really seen it outside 2010 and a bit in 2011. Racking up possessions doesn't mean much to me personally. I prefer to look at what's done with those possessions rather than acknowledge the sheer number of them like many do.

I blame Super Coach and Dream Team, it allows nuffies to think they know more than AFL Coaches

2 things.

1) I don't even play those games

2) If anything Supercoach has inflated the quality of a players game because all it does is back up the insane theory that Lot of possessions = A good game
