Why are people so upset about 2011? We were clearly the 3rd best team that year (lost 5 times for no wins to the teams above us), got thrashed in the QF by the eventual premiers and would have been even more embarrassed on GF day. Our prelim opponents were well beaten in the GF too.

Compare that to 2012 where we were the best team, minor premiers and beat the swans on their home turf on the eve of finals.... To go down after going a couple of goals ahead in the last quarter was gut-wrenching, that one was really ours to lose. 2011 wasn't.

A fitting send off to luke ball who broke our hearts with that snap in time on of the 2011 prelim final. I reckon we would have taken down geelong the following week.

Our chances in 2011 we gone when Roughy did his achilles.

Who knows how far we could have gone with a fit Roughy.

Can't agree more it felt like in 2012 & 2013 the flag was ours to lose but not in 2011 or this year really.

We finished 3rd but there wasn't much in it and we played some glorious footy. I agree we were 3rd best but the difference was immaterial enough that we had every reason to believe we could win any game.

Our 18-4 record finishing 3rd was better than our 17-5 record winning the minor premiership in 2012 and also better than this years.

Makes sense but weird Hartung is the sub given Hill is out

Maybe Duryea will see some midfield time with Hill dropping out. Thought he was good when he played there last time.

Don't love Schoey as a forward and would rather he used his kicking skills to provide rebound from defence with Spangher crashing packs up forward.

Not sure if he will be tagging anyone tonight so would love to see Langford play as an outside mid for parts of the game. He certainly has the burst of the speed and would give him the chance to work on his ball use.

Really hope to see us apply pressure early and often and get guys like Gunston and Bruest back among the goals this week. Solid games from Hale and Lake would also be good to see.

Must show Collingwood respect but I think we will weather their early aggression and play some quality attacking footy.

Absolutely agree. It was somewhat embarrassing with everyone carrying on how we missed a chance to play Geelong in the GF. Especially Jeff. We were nowhere near it and Geelong thoroughly deserved it that year.
