It is certainly worth mentioning that our midfield set up especially, is very different to last year. We really do have to re-learn what we did last year. The downside is, those new mids like Beams, Rich, Redden, Robbo, who are playing center square and were absent last year, are some of our better players.

What really pissed me off were the two schoolboy errors** in the latter part of the second quarter that virtually killed off any chance we had of remaining competitive. Two goals conceded in about a minute and a half.

Both were dropped marks, the first by Stef, forward of the wing, the second by Goose at around the CHB position. Both resulted in Richmond goals and both were straightforward catches that you would expect a half competent Under 14 player to swallow.

This, after a sustained period where we actually looked like we were starting to get on level terms with them.

Shit like that is not only energy sapping for the team but kills you as a supporter.

Vent over.

** apologies to the schoolboys

So people are calling for Leppa's head. Let's say we get another coach, like Bomber, what the heck is he gonna do with a team of lazy unskilled c grade muppets. Other than Rich, Redden?, the Beams Boys, Taylor, Martin and Rockliff the rest are Melbourne club ressies players at best.

Think the second one was Maguire but I agree with you.

It worked at Port.

Not sure how Jack Redden got in our best players - he was rubbish. He's midrange player at best & will never make the leap to be elite
I have so much frustration at Leppa's positional decisions of the last two years
Paparone is not a defender - hes a forward flanker/wing. Same as Mayes - play them there & drop Robinson. Paparone was horrific last night, has a bad case of the fumbles & lacks composure in the back half - but he could be quite a good player in future & has only played 25 games. Bring in Cutler to play off the half back line. Harris Andrews was not ready to play last night at all, but I'd rather see him & lose by 80 then see McGuane & Staker and lose by 40. Please hold fire on McStay, he's a third tall being asked to play as the number one tall. He wasn't our worst last night & will get better if he has a proper fwd set up around him.
Bewick & Staker need to be delisted at the end of the year. Neither are capable of contributing in the way we need them to. Bewick has played 60 games of AFL. He needs to be better & consistent.

I only like to bottom out my glass of beer.

Look at the two bottom out poster boys the Blues and Dee's loaded with those magical draft pick 1's.
A culture of winning I prefer then this AFL development BS.

I just can't understand why you guys aren't sticking Leuy in the goal square. Can anyone shed some light? I know Big Stef (still a favourite of mine) rucks better when he's solo, but surely you could use the big fella in the square just to make a contest. Especially now that poor Close has done his knee. I just feel like footy teams need to back their best players, especially when you've got a rebuilding forward line like yours.

Melbourne is 1000x better - and we're still ordinary - with battlers who want to play footy rather high picks. Morton, Blease, Cook, Scully, Gysberts, Tapscott etc. had all the talent in the world and weren't developed right/pissed it away. I think you guys have a decent list, it's just the core that needs work. Until it does, play to your strengths. Full on rebuilds need a really special coach and the right off-field structure to work: It's better to send them out with nothing but competing in mind.

Wow what a let down after so much anticipation for the year ahead. We are the preseason kings, we look awesome when the other side doesn't tackle. We need to all start a campaign to get the NAB cup back so we can win a trophy!

Same ****, different year.

After first seven games over the last five years:

Year - Ladder Position; Percentage; Last 7 Games

2011 - 17th; 76.4%; LLLLLLL (Losses included 78 pt loss to WB [A])
2012 - 14th; 73.4%; WLLWLLL (Beat Melb and GC; losses include 91pt to Carl [H]; 38pt to Geel [H]; 67pt to Ess [A]; 58pt to Coll [H])
2013 - 15th; 72.8%; LLWLWLL (Beat Melb and GC again; losses include 68pt to Dogs [A]; 63pt to North [A]; 60pt to Syd [A])
2014 - 18th; 56%; LLLLLWL (Beat St Kilda; losses include 53pt to GC [A]; 113pt to PA [A]; 43pt to Rich [H]; 79pt to Syd [H])
2015* - 18th; 51.4%; LLL???? (Losses include 82pt loss to North [A]; 79pt to Rich [H])

In 2012, Melbourne and Gold Coast finished 16th and 17th respectively at season end.
In 2013, Melbourne and Gold Coast finished 17th and 14th respectively at season end.
In 2014, St Kilda finished 18th.

Doesn't really matter whether it's Voss or Leppa. We are never ready to start the season.

Where is the security when you need them.
Section 29 non drinking area ,you get people from both Brisbane and Richmond
sitting down with a beer.

Okay whats the big deal you say. well.
Some father/grandfather with his very young daughter, told some roughnut that sat in front of them that he couldn't sit there with his beer , he refused to leave. The father lost it and flicked the beer out of his hand , very close to getting very very ugly. He should of found security ,being responsible for his kid and all, was a pretty bad look.
Security would be good to keep out the pissed idiots, and he was pissed ( the fool with the beer, not the dad, he was foolish too though).
I have noticed it more this year, rules are rules, some people just are so consumed by their own needs that they just dont get it.

The other vent is my absolute pet hate , some tosser behind us ,a mate of the pissed fool that sat in front of that father, banging on loud enough for everybody to here , telling a Richmond supporter how he is a level 2 coach, and that he sees it differently to the regular supporter. How about shut the f..ck up and watch the game or talk amongst yourselves . Pretty much the last half of the game we had to put up with his utter bullshit.

I really had to tell myself if we were winning or in the game he would of engaged in the game and I wouldn't of been sitting there feeling disheartened.

My Vent.
My uncle and myself are big lions fans and have seen the highest of highs and lowest of lows over the years rain hail or shine we are at all home games we have the same routine where we drop into one of the locals to have a few beers and discuss how the match may turn out then venture to the ground and watch the teams warm up from the members bar between sections 61 and 62. Last night we turned up only to be told that we are no longer permitted access as we are not September members WTF!!! I have been doing the same routine even before that stand was there when it used to be the old social club there and when the new area was provided for all members, to rub salt into the wound there was people in there who did not even have a basic membership from the opposition team. I do fell sorry for the door attendants they were only enforcing a bad decision from who knows and were copping an absolute ear full from long time supporters that go about there same game day routine who were not allowed to enter also.
My suggestion to the club that is hellbent on improving my game day experience or anyone else is that this is not the way to go about it, putting a competitive team on the field that shows heart and courage and wins games is what brings in the crowds and improves the game day experience not taking of the rusted on members.

Hope Leppa doesn't become the victim of the teams poor performance

On some part it is the coaches fault tho, not just the head coach tho. We weren't ready for the start of the season and l struggle to see any semblance of a gameplan or the gameplan isn't being done correctly. Whether that is personnel or not being drilled enough l dont know. Plus some of these positional changes Leppa has given to the players has been very questionable

Not saying it is entirely the coaches fault, the players need to take some responsibility as well.

We had some young children behind us, which I hate (I know, I'm a bad person, but they chitter chatter incessantly) but a couple of rows back were some young 20 something year olds there as part of an Australian experience tour of some discription. Their tour guide/host was explaining the basics of the game before the match and spoke with an American accent (could have been from anywhere, as could his group, but I assumed U.S. college students, who knows), anyway, mine and my daughter's first thought was "great, we'll have to listen to this all night, and the leader will probably explain it all wrong anyway". Never heard a peep from them all night, and by half time I was thinking, "Oh, these poor bastards, having to watch this shit. They'll be none the wiser about this game by the end". Should have taken them to a pub to watch another game on the big screen. Unless they were a church group, they would have had a far better night on the piss with real beer and Aussie hospitality.:$

Edit: Sorry, forgot what thread I was in. Not much of a vent really.
****ing umpires.
