The game unfortunately isn't as clear cut a Hawthorn win as media, betting agencies and a large portion of the public are making out.

The importance of this game in the context of the season is to give experience to youth and make them at the very least COMPETITIVE...
losing games is fine when gaining experience... losing badly with no hope of winning is another thing entirely.

This year i'm content to sit here and watch the next generation form slowly and surely before my eyes, the results for me (except getting fundamentally smashed, which we havent been yet, a la fremantle) are secondary to watching the youth get games under their wings.

My father made a comment against Essendon, I think it was when Burgoyne kicked a point... "when Burgoyne's missing shots like that, you know we are f*****".... new generation arriving, old one exiting....

Out: Big Boy, Birch, Henderson
In: Fitz, Brand, Sicily

Think we'll kick lots of goals at GC and have a good win.

Loads of people potting McEvoy here, but if Fitzpatrick needed to go forward, can he kick us goals ? Aside from the one he pulled out of his backside last year, I'd say no. McEvoy is a dead-eye in front of goal, and is a better mark than he is getting credit for. He played a bad game or two. Name me a player who hasn't in their time. He was playing against a giant in good form on the weekend. It's not like Jacobs is a complete spud.

I'd also be inclined to give TOB a run too. He can take a grab and does a lot more work off the footy than HE is given credit for

After reading through most threads in the last two weeks, a p**s-poor crowd of 37,000 doesn't surprise me at all. We look and sound like a bunch of fair-weather supporters who don't like it when we lose a few games, or when things get a bit tough. Very un-Hawthornlike I'm afraid.

Time will tell. Up on the Goldie, even with the Suns form, this is not a given for us. Expect a close win to us or quite possibly a loss. I hope we win, but I have doubts.

please leave stewart in and give him a fair crack at it. please no billy for at least another week. fitzy in and vickory/mcevoy out. gibbo (cant believe I'm suggesting it) out and heatherly in

hey fellas just curious, do you think cousins will be upgraded onto the senior list? seems like hes pretty solid and thereabouts at AFL level. Is there a spot on the senior list?

there is a spot, but unlikely to be used on Cousins. We have a few midfielders who probably get a spot ahead of him should one open up (Lovell, O'Rourke, Hartung, Stewart).

The extra spot probably being saved to upgrade Fitzpatrick if one of our rucks go down.

You lost me there, just when we need ticker...you call TOB, the guy can't get a kick in the McGoo's.....

wouldn't surprise me if Clarko goes Doc in for Birch. the way clarko spoke in his presser is that he still thinks Burton is a KPD!
I would have Brand in for Birch
Schoenmakers in for one of Mcevoy/Vickery, providing more mobility around the ground as a second ruck option. what the hell, Boyd does this for Doggies and has made him a better player been in and around the ball so why not give this a go?
hopefully Pup/Issie come up or else we're in a world of trouble as the replacemnts don't quite fill me with confidence.

Mate comparing him to Mew does Mew a disservice. One of the finest defenders to play the game. Possibly the best reader of the ball in flight in the game Imo. If brand can just come in and play his role i would be happy
I know that brand isn't fit to tie Mews shoelaces- im just saying backmen dont get the accolades that fowards/mids do

Yes our kick-ins have bee a disaster for the last 2 weeks.
In second quarter against theAdelaide the game was locked in our backline for most of the quarter. We just couldn't get the ball out and Adelaide kept kicking points.

I seriously nearly lost my shit with out kicks outs. Watching Birchall, Burgoyne and Henderson, experienced guys, kicking it long to Ty Vickery and McEvoy who kept getting out worked by Jacobs every time. Jacobs was marking everything, yet we kept kicking it out too them. Surely we have a couple of decent mid-sized players who we can target instead and keep it away from their ruckman.

Even if it was a team rule you would think the runner could have gone out...

Wow 360 really putting the heat on gc, i knew theyd be under the pump but this is like ww2 vision - and gary abblet on footy show this week so hes not hiding, maybe i was wrong that theyd come out firing

Hawks by 22 instead of 47

aha now ceo mark evans is putting it on the table!!! some tough words coming out of GC about better effort this week is on the cards and that the review went really well... clubs like this make me sick, even if they were to beat hawks , I bet they still finish last! nevertheless if Hawks don't win this then our whole season is down the gurgler. we must punish them!
