Our backline was superb though considering the s**t they had to put up with. A really good game from them. But sad that they are forced to defend with all their might and also be the ones to try to generate play for us. Our mids are a joke. Neale and dunks played well enough but too many s**t mistakes by our other mids.
I criticised Joyce earlier but man our backline was impressive tonight. Only reason it was close at all. This one is on our forwards, bar Gunston.

Midfield were valiant, Defence stood up right throughout the whole game. Daniher and Hipwood up forward is a liability. They play nearly the same role and contest each other over and over again. You’d think after 3 years together they’d have some chemistry but it’s just not happening. So for our 3 talls next week: Gunston, either Hipwood or Daniher, and the resting ruckman
Midfield were not valiant at all. Forwards worse though.

We did go 1 on 1 pretty well today. Not many fast breaks for the dogs, there was awareness to move back, man up etc.

But for the life of me, we butchered it completely going forward. Umps didn't help either but our forwards didn't play as a unit today.

In a low scoring game - free kicks on goals are crucial - Im not into bagging Umpires (as I am a community ump) but in a small sample size - the four system is not working the way it was intended and the inconsistency is much worse and tonight it had an effect.

having said that

we were putrid
we lacked a game plan
we lacked accountability
we lacked leadership

wtf is this coaching group doing?

Clug has been awful to start the season. McCarthy is cooked and can’t continue to get games.
Still waiting for Hugh to make that supposed jump into an A grader, doesn't look like it will be this season. Getting worryingly close to whether he will ever make that jump at all, media and fans just take it for granted that it will somehow just happen.

Completely disagree. You can shy away from it all you want but the umpires cost us the game.

We were poorly skilled but they didn’t deserve to win that game.
I'm not into blaming umps, just a personal thing for me.

We had opportunities early on and didn't take them.

Were there some shit frees? Yes
Am I annoyed about them? Yes
But I also think our wastefulness had a greater impact than those frees did. Just my take on it though, I see where you're coming from.

Yeh McCarthy I think is done. He’s never actually been a star but this year he can’t even get a kick. McLuggage, well I don’t know. 3 games in and he’s done nothing in all 3. Not great.

Big week for Fagan. Selection is going to tell us what he values. Nobody would ever question McInerney or Fort's effort. Hipwood and Daniher are another story. But we sub off Fort. Players aren't idiots, they want Fort on the field ahead of the other 2. Fagan will lose the group if he doesn't make tough decisions.
