Round 3 The Sydney Swans vs. The Richmond Tigers

You would drop someone who delivered quality ball to others throughout the night? I wouldn't. He hasn't got the confidence yet to take players on (despite his blistering speed), but he has the common sense to use the ball wisely, which he did tonight, IMO. He did very litle wrong from where I was sitting.

He did not use the ball wisely. And trust me - he has the confidence to take players on... And he did. I think he needs maybe a drop into ressies.. Reward someone else.. Had no real influence barring a kick to goodes tbh..

I think the long term plan for Jetta would be to rotate him through the reserves. I think Rohan can provide the same sort of spark, pace and excitement. Perhaps these two could work out some sort of timeshare. I think Vesz needs one or two more weeks.

The Saints who had just played in the Nab Cup Final, the same Saints who then smashed the Roos in round 2 by 100 points plus and then went on to keep Collingwood goal less in the second half last night.
The Crows who we hadn't beaten in Adelaide since 2001 or anywhere at all since 2004.
Yes glass half empty for sure.
And Bevan for JESSE, for what reason, MMM said so.

No; Bevan for Moore if he's injured. Richards for Jesse. Doesn't even need to be played up forward.

I'd suggest:

OUT: Moore (inj.) (?), Jetta
IN: Bevan, O'Dwyer

Got to be happy with a 55pt win, but the second half was shithouse. We should have won that by 100 pts, the kicking at goal was a disgrace. Malceski's return to form and Kennelly's great return is a massive bonus for us. I would like to see Goodes spend a bit more time in the middle, that might free up White a bit as on the SCG it can get crowded up forward, he will go better on the bigger grounds.
Jude Bolton what a star and i reckon in the first three games he has been tougher than the great no.31., make no mistake he will get the three votes from the green rats.
What a tool the cousin of the scum rat is , his sides 10 goals down, he kicks a goal and starts high tenning every other Tiger on the forward line.

I don't think he used the ball all that well tonight.
I do beg to differ. His ability (or balls) to make the inside pass, (as opposed to the down the line) to me shows the kid knows where games can be won. We can play the collingwood game all we like (and even they get the shits with it) but tonight he was one of the guys who was prepared to turn the ball back inside, partly because his pace gets him to the ball earlier than others, but secondly, because he has vision. He sees things taking shape in the midfield, and moves the ball there, instead of going down the (snore, snore) boundary line...

I think that's bullshit, to be frank. There were guys using the ball in a much more sloppy manner than him. I won't bother trying to defend him, like Moore, there's haters out there (in the case of Moore, they've gone fairly quiet over the last two weeks). Our team wins by 50+ points and people are lining up to shoot someone down. Wait until we lose, then we can drop half the goddamn team:rolleyes:

I realise that we can win and still have plenty to work on, but the negativity around here is ridiculous sometimes. Even last week there were some who could barely find a positive in our win over the Crows, some people are just don't know how to enjoy a win it seems.

I've never been more excited about how the team is looking, especially with the injection of some very promising kids, but I come here and feel like I'm back in 2008/2009.

Rohan reminds me of Cooney.. looking forward to seeing him out there.

Mglyns misses from easy set shots will hurt us in the future.. love his workrate tho

And how do you know this? What has illustrated this tendency to you? Playing WAFL?? Different league IMO. He has the skills, but is looking for the confidence, which will come. He appears shy, but smart with the ball at the same time. He looks inside, instead of down the line, which to me is a blessing in our side...

Mcveigh made more mistakes than Jetta tonight. But who cares, we won?

Yep. Winning is better than losing, any time of the day and night.:thumbsu: Go and have a look round the Tigers board, just for fun.

Also Moore might be injured, but there is no excuse for his kicking at goal, 20 metres out on a 45 degree angle and just puts it straight through the points. There any 5 or 6 moore talented players in the seconds.
Ok Bedford, you have a hateon for Moore, I know, but to pick one incident out (when he was nearly BOG last week and the silence towards Moore was deafening) and try and make it into something is, IMO, pathetic.

BOG last week , you are kidding. I don't hate him, i just don't think he does enough and there are much better players in the Ressies, old and new ones.

You think that shot was from a 45 degree angle? Nowhere near. It should have been, but the umpire inexplicably brought him around. The mark was about 5 metres closer to the boundary than it should have been, and at 20 metres out that translates to a big angle difference. It was a tough shot.

Mcveigh made more mistakes than Jetta tonight. But who cares, we won?

No he didn't. Jetta was horrible tonight. It's OK, he's young, I'm not saying he should be dropped, but it just wasn't his night. His ball use was terrible, he was fumbling, dropping marks, everything. The only good thing he did was the run down the wing to set up Goodes. That was brilliant. McVeigh had a few turnovers, but aside from that used the ball brilliantly. Jetta had more clangers, and was far less efficient with the ball. He was poor. Doesn't make him a poor player, but he had a poor game.

I said "nearly", and yes you said you think he doesn't do enough, but IMO he did plenty, last week and this week. And you also said you thought he wasn't in our plans for the future, which to me doesn't make sense. And who's playing better than him in the reserves? And FFS don't say Barlow, please, or I'll vomit up all the loving beer I've drunk tonight...I'm just happy to have a win, before we have to confront a loss again...one day...

He was 20 metres out, for a player who doesn't get a lot of possies he should nail those

I think Jetta should be dropped this week. He had a bad game and should have the opportunity to prove he deserves a senior spot in the reserves. The ressies have had a few consistent performers and one of those boys should get an opportunity whether it be bevo or someone else.

I just think it is beneficial for the team to make that spot in the side competitive and very much up for grabs. If you play bad well then there someone behind you waiting in line. One change to a winning team isn't drastic and doesn't change the balance of our side.

It's obvious we saw the game in very different ways. Plus i haven't seen the replay yet, so being at the ground (as we all know) can give a very different impression of how players went. I will try and see the replay in the coming days and reflect upon all these questions. BUT we still won, remember!

I'd give white 1 or 2 games max to find form, then I'd drop him to the ressies....i wouldn't be surprised if he was dropped next week tho...but considering we've got north & the eagles i think we can afford to persist with him and hopefully he comes good by the time we play the lions...

Jetta hasn't really played "poorly" but i don't think he's done enough to keep his spot...and with others performing well, it'd be a good time to give others a go....depending on how Rohan's performing, i'd like to see him step up in place of jetta...

but possibly they're sticking with Jetta because he's shown he can perform against older bodies in the WAFL and perhaps playing in the reserves would be a backwards step...but if he doesn't improve shortly i'm sure he'll be dropping in favour of another consistant performer...

as for the game, good to get the win...we wrapped it up early n took our foot off the peddle, would've loved to see a demolition but the win will do...

bradshaw's finding touch...malceski's back to his 07 form <-- great to see...kennelly's improving with every game...kieran jack....i've been on the bandwagon since he started playing seniors and he keeps getting better...moore, i don't know why all the hate? he's an efficient use of the footy, disposals are generally clean, can win his own ball...he's not a superstar but he's a safe pair of hands...

is kirk slowing down?? or is he still doin a great job? i haven't been paying much attention but i'm not so worried about his eventual retirement...he may go another year, but i think 2 may be too long...still to early to really judge tho...

Yes, the same saints who were mauled by the dogs the week before and the same crows who were thrashed by freo the week before. As for the Tigers...even the Blues managed to win 4 quarters against them.

I'm not convinced today's effort will cut it against quality opposition. We really dropped off in the last half. FFS, we were matched for the last half by Richmond !! You can't get any worse (apologies to Tiger's supporters but a fact's a fact)

Roos should be concerned and I bet he is. What happens if we carry the form of our last half into next week ? Complacency is the enemy. We have plenty of deserving players in the 2's, many of whom played well in the pre-season.

IMO, Roos will shoot one or two players as an example to the others.

I actually do think Kirk has drastically slowed, a key example of this being he is no where near the leaderboard for most tackles in the league, something he has dominated for years on end now.

There is little correlation between the two things. Kirk has never been a quick player to begin with, so any supposed slow-down is probably a mirage. Come back to me in 22 weeks time and I'd be surprised if he wasn't in the Top 5 for tackles
