Tom Rockliff -> Tom Papley still there and can now be pretty much locked in now that Rocky is set to miss the next two weeks.

I think I'm going to keep Selwood for one more week, he's done well against the Lions in the past and is due for a big one. Also contemplated trading out Lonegan and Sheridan, a poor week for either next week and they're gone.

For my other trade I'm going something a bit different, going with Zac Smith -> Todd Goldstein

Yes I know he's coming off 62 but he's not going to ruck against Stefan Martin every week. I've lost faith in Zac Smith allready and what's the point of trading in any other ruckman than Goldy?

Jacob Hopper might get a run for this round, Thoughts on him coming off 26 disposals, 2 goals and 7 tackles in the NEAFL, 17 of disposals being kicks as well making his fantasy score 133

GWS won on the weekend in an upset against Geelong. 26 disposals in the NEAFL is nothing. Where did you hear he might get a game?

Option 1:
Tom Rockliff to Luke Parker
Michael Barlow to Jason Johannisen

OR

Option 2:
Tom Rockliff to David Zaharakis
Michael Barlow to Zach Merrett

What about:

Tom Rockliff to Jason Johannisen
Michael Barlow to Zach Merrett

JJ is looking like a top 6 defender and zerrett is looking like a top 6 forward. Zaha & Parker, both quality but will they be top 8 especially at the extra coin in the mids?

Ooh didn't realise Zerret is a forward option, nice.

I don't have rockliff :(

:p. This is probably the icon you should be using, if I didn't have to worry about the loss of cash endured with that spud I would be able to trade up to both Mitchell's. Difficult to ignore him at his price but should have been able to bite the bullet and ignore him when others actually had a pre-season and did so well.

What are people's thoughts on Gibson? Don't want to get overly reactionary but seems a reasonable bet. I do already have Laird, Houli and Johannisen so arguably I should focus on shoring up another line though.

Bit early to call that IMO. His opposition so far this year has been limited to GCS and Melbourne, he might do OK against Port next but Geelong, Sydney, NM all in the next 6 games will probably reflect his true rank a bit better.

I'd love to hear your reasoning for why. Also, what other premo mids you already have?
I have Ablett and Ellis, think Merret and Zaha have higher ceilings than Parker and Johanissen. Plus im focussing on my forward line earlier in the season because im waiting for defensive DPP additions in round 6 as I think there will be some quality ones.

Zerrett averaged 90.53 last year with Essendon having a full compliment of players. That had him ranked 16th (97.64 was the 6th ranked forward). In that list though, there are several players above him that lost fwd status Bontempelli, Crisp, Gawn, Gray, Goddard, Adams, Mitchell, Swan and not many players have gained forward status except montagna that look like finishing above him. (I know there maybe some players who receive forward status during the year)

Therefore to get in the top 6, he only needs ~7 points more per game average going from last years scores. (for example 2 kicks)

In addition, he has had 1 more year of development and the fact that he is playing in the guts as one of the senior midfielders, means he has a lot more opportunities then if Essendon hasn't lost the players. So I think this year, he will have more opportunity to score well.

Also I said looking like a top 6 forward. I never said he was definitely. But his first 2 games have shown he is improving from last year.

ps. Personally I wouldn't be knocking GC with how they have played. Last year they were crippled by injuries (This year hasnt started great) but they are a team that are going to play decent footy this year.

Pick 2: Johannisen, Merrett, Hunter, Zaharakis
JJ and Merrett. I am in the same situation and a wise old man sold me by saying Zerrett and JJ will be top 6 in their individual positions come seasons end. Zaha and Hunter on the opposite wont. All good picks though!!
