Man I really want this one.

If we get to 4-0

It safeguards us against the expected back to back losses after that with the personnel issues we have.

Then we have every chance of going into the last 5 games before the bye as favourites. With 2-4 bodies returning.

Have to aim for 8-3 from here.
Will they extend RTB if we're 8-3 at the bye?

Just re-watching the last quarter against essendon, looks like Hunter Clark went to half back when Wood and Webster were injured so that Paton could stay on the wing, and Phillipou took Hunters spot in the midfield. Interesting to see if we stick with something similar this week and get Sharman in to play Poo's position up forward.

Sharman played wing yesterday and didn’t have a huge impact.

You would imagine Bytel is a certainty.

But maybe Campbell gets a gig aswell.

We need abit of extra height if wood goes out.

I’d be inclined to give Sharman his chance due to the last sentence; if we’re misfiring up forward, he can play tall or small up there.

The issue I can see is, I think Paton has to go back to take Webster’s spot, unless we put Clark to half back and Stocker plays are more of a traditional lockdown defender.

Bytel has to play, but is absolutely not suited to being the sub.

Nor, I think, is Sharman, but someone has to be.

As mentioned earlier - Wood's height, running capacity and pure size of the guy is why for me he can't be replaced.

We can sit on here and go player A,B,C can play wing - but thats not replacing Woods impact. Going to be incredibly hard.

Matt Rowell just quietly is a serious threat, he's been huge for the Suns.

It won't happen, but...

geez it'd be great to see the big moose play!

You never know, with his confidence up after kicking five, they might see this as a reasonably low pressure game to debut big Max replacing Cordy, not much pressure in matching one disposal let's face it.

As mentioned, probably won't happen but would certainly be a great watch!

Wondering if all these left-field wing options are just a bit too cute. Hill, Byrnes, Ross, Clark would all be ahead of any others not used to the wing position. Even NAS.

Don’t think we need to get too fruity with it, maybe I’m just having flashbacks of Richo/Ratts - plus all this 8-3 talk is making my sphincter twitch.

Lukosius was huge for the Suns against Geelong too kicking 5 goals against them, that's half of their goals so he will need to be closely guarded.

Witts is also a huge threat in the ruck for them so I wouldn't mind seeing Campbell or Heath come in to give Marshall some support against him.

That would also allow Marshall to have some more freedom to provide a marking option around the ground when we have someone else in the ruck.

I reckon it might be time to take a bit of pressure off Roma, especially in light of who he's coming up against this week in Witts.

Give big Tommy a run & let Roma spend more time forward (and give us a much needed target).

We've got plenty of options to rotate through the wing, although none will be able to give us what Maso in career best form gives.

Yes I am getting greedy I want 4-0 and while I know the crunch has to come soon due to our massive injuries, but if we get to 4-0 we can halve the rest of the season and make the finals.

That would be a result.

Yep. I get we may not have anticipated finals 4 weeks ago (I also didn't have Pies in my top 8 forecast!) but we get to 4 / zip and we have to adjust and say missing finals would be a bad result. No question Lyon will be thinking that way. He's a hard bastard despite learning how to smile in the last couple of years. I think supporters have to be equally demanding. It's not the time to say "good job" now we can ease back a bit.

I dont think Sharman showed enough yesterday to warrant inclusion. He played on a wing and hardly got near the ball. He simply plays with zero intensity and looks way down on confidence.

The cupboard is pretty bare, but if we need run then Connolly would be next in line.

I’m tipping Peris to be the sub

3 goals and 5 tackles yesterday

Not ideal but I think he’s next in line. Maybe his pace can give us something late in the game.

Just starting to go through the centre bounces on the replay to see who lined up on the wings, and Byrnes and Windy started there for the first 3 centre bounces of the game. Hill and Wood both started forward at the first bounce.

Then for the 4th bounce, about 11 mins in, it was Wood and Hill. Windy into the middle. Then for the 5th it was Windy again on the far wing and they didn’t show who it was on the close one, but half a minute later Byrnes was deep in defence on that side, so it was almost certainly him.

6th bounce they didn’t show the wings but Windy was in the guts, Hill pushed up from the forward line and Essendon went forward and you could see Wood on the far side streaking back and Byrnes closer to the camera doing the same, so it was obviously those two.

7th, Byrnes and Wood, Windy guts.

2nd quarter. Windy and Byrnes.

That’s all I’m going to look at for now, but as I suspected, Byrnes has so far been playing what looks like exclusively on the wing and Hill almost exclusively forward. Wood played mainly forward that quarter and to start the 2nd and Windy lined up on the wing when he wasn’t in the guts.

If Bytel comes in you'd think Windy just plays mostly wing along with Byrnes and Hill. Maybe give Clark a couple of goes out there. I don't think we need to change anything up too much.

Owens is one of our most important players right now, I think it's too much of a risk to take him away from our forward line.

Lots of options for the wing Paton can play that roll
