I wouldn't pick McCartin as I think he's too young for a KPF and it could really dent his development if he comes in and gets shredded.

I'd go Reid, Melican out with Jones, Marsh in.

Aliir just hasn't played enough recently and we've seen what he can look like if he comes into seniors underdone. If he plays a full game in the NEAFL this week, I'd be very close to bringing him in next week.

Cameron and McCartin are both raw in terms on senior league footy

Look to the future and who fits Reid’s role better and play them imo
Yeah agreed. We'd know more about them if they'd played a month or two in ressies - 1 game isn't much to go on.

Aliir and Dawson will also come in to contention once they regain match fitness, though neither plays Reid's role.

You don't want to move Heeney back into a pure forward role. He's the new Adam Goodes for us (as in he has carte blanche to roam the field as required) and it's working a treat.

Jones to come back in. We still need a CHB so maybe Aliir gets his chance or Newman?

Allir underdone and doesn’t seem to be in favour where it matters.....

Jones Cameron in

Reckon the Dogs might bring Boyd back and go a bit taller.

Good opportunity for whoever they pick as Naughton in his 4th game appears to be their only key defender available.

Who plays CHB? Dogs don't have a monster forward line but they have Redpath and might have Boyd back. Bontempelli will play forward a fair chunk as well.

The doubly irritating thing this year is that we actually have a pretty handy second forward by the name if Sinclair, who is more than capable of kicking a few goals a game if he is played in the forward line. The problem is with Naismith and Tippett gone we need to play Sinclair as a ruckman, a position he is not ideally suited.

So we have a choice. Either bring in another forward and leave Sinclair in the ruck, or bring in another ruckman, and move Sinclair forward.

Yep, I think it’s a good opportunity to give Cameron a crack at it. Take a chance, it might backfire, but not enough to cost 4points I would think.

If the game was at home I’d take a punt but not away.

You clearly have difficulty getting past his possession count and unable to appraise his overall contribution to the Hawks team. He's one of the top Brownlow favourites for a reason.

He is a valuable contributor to the Hawks, as he was with us. IMO he is playing better at the Hawks, hard to say if that is because he is the main man or if he is just better or if he simply stands out in an otherwise vanilla midfield.

Are you really going to use Brownlow favouritism as some sort of metric?

Crowd only turned down for scg games
I'm one of the people who had a whinge about the crowd for the Port game, but being at the ground for both games I can confirm that the crowd for the Giants game was great and pretty loud. No idea how it showed up on TV, maybe they're taking the sound from the SCG members area (who are notorious for being a bit precious and not getting involved in the mexican wave at the cricket etc)?

You could make an argument that Darcy Cameron faced a better ruckman in the NEAFL last week (Dawson Simpson) than he might if he were to debut this week (Tim English). I'm sure English will end up a good player (and he's not bad around the ground), but he's skinny as hell right now and I'm sure Cameron could compete with him if called upon.

Depending on what is being measured, yes. If Mitchell happens to win it this year, Im thinking you'd argue against his quality somehow, for reasons known only to you. Would you also criticise the quality of recent brownlow winners as to their measurement of quality, dusty, dangerfield, fyfe and ablett, are they also so so in your eyes?

Might end up seeing Cameron for Reid and Marsh for Melican. It would be tempting to see Mcartin get a gig though, was talked up by the players and coaches preseason as having the capacity to play some games this year, hard to see a better set of circumstances eventuate than the one we're in for that to happen. Aliir had only a half a game I heard in reserves, so doesnt sound match fit.
