I heard Gaff got 27 touches for the Eagles as well as Darling's effort.

Swallow will probably get it ahead of Pittard and Darling. The AFL will jump on any chance to get Vlad's pet a nomination.
MC Extra Dollop said:Do not get this logic. Why would the AFL have to gift David Swallow a Rising Star nomination? Do you really think there is any chance he won't get one this year on his own merits?
IMO they'll want to do it as quickly as possible.
I watched darling put in yet another fantastic performance on the weekend. Will be tough to beat, especially considering how the panel likes players to prove themselves over a couple of games before getting nominated. He would have to be one of the best chase and tackle big men in the league, essentially he has the defensive pressure of a small forward but provides a tall option, he is a player to build a team around.
That is a very big stretch.Chris Mayne is the best tallish defensive forward in the game, and the number one defensive forward in the game, also happens to kick goals.
Pittard was fantastic. Not sure Darling had that much of an impact with ball in hand. Presented well though no doubt.

Darling was very influential with the ball in hand. Set up a few shots on goal.
Mayne is about the same height as Darling is he not?
Deceptively tall
You really love your petty grudges don't you.Chris Mayne is the best tallish defensive forward in the game, and the number one defensive forward in the game, also happens to kick goals.

Others to consider would be Zac Smith and David Swallow.
Forget Naitanui and Kruezer, Smith is something else.

Good thing people are on the Fyfe bandwagon so you don't have to put up with them endlessly spruiking Hill.
He does well for his height and I believe Darling is a similar player though more versatile and has the capacity to work up the ground far more. Mayne will stay pigeonholed in that defensive/pinch hitting lead up forward role.
Anyway, both Kennedy and Dawes are better defensively than Mayne without his considerable limitations.
How would such a thing be judged objectively?
