Review Round 4 vs Carlton

If Carlton is good they wouldn't be 0-3 and finish last in 2018
I did not said they are good , I said they got talent and experience on paper compare to GCS and should win based on their list and experience , but on field anything can happen .

Fisher and sps the dangerous ones for me.
Obviously Cripps a beast but as the Carlton supporter said if these guys have good games will give them a lot of drive.
Sps was pretty good and got a lot of outside ball last time we lost to them at Metricon from memory.
I’d play Bowes on Cripps. Miller on fisher,
Depends where sps lines up but consider Holman if he plays half back.

I'd say I don't really have a strong grasp on how I feel about those boys yet, but I'll give you my two cents from the 3 matches I've watched.

I really like Bowes. He's able to play a multitude of positions and seems to move well and get into good spots.
In the Doggies game last week he drifted into defense multiple times in crucial stages late and I think that speaks volume of both his work-rate and talent.

He kinda reminds me of Jack Silvagni, but I think he's a little more naturally gifted than Jack.
I'm hoping Jack becomes a great utility player who can play any line for the Blues, and I feel Bowes is already doing that for the Suns :)

Fiorini works really hard and is always a valuable link up player, but I haven't really seen him do anything that's really wowed me.
In saying that he's definitely a solid contributor and I wouldn't even think about dropping him unless there's some really big results coming from someone in the 2s.

Of course I could be completely reading it wrong, so feel free to inform me otherwise :)

Weller is a big out! Has been providing a lot of good drive out of the back half.
Hopefully Harbrow can pick up the slack.

In regards to my thoughts on the midfield match up, well it's an interesting one.

I think we're (Carlton) a good chance to win at the coldface IF (and this is a pretty big if), one or two of SPS, Dow or Fisher have good games.
This is far from a given (they all played pretty average last week against Sydney), but when they're firing they really provide great support to Cripps and (critically) good entry into F50 after the clearance.

Cripps will be Cripps and if left unchecked he can be the catalyst, but he can't do it alone. The other kids are too inconsistent at this stage and struggle to put 4 quarters in.

Suns mids will have more flair and bigger bodies overall, which will lead to progressive midfield gains if the Blues can't rise to match their level.

However I think we also need to take a look at the rucks... Lobbe is our third choice to ruck (behind both Kreuzer and Phillips) and I think Witts will be able to have a bigger influence on the game due to this.

It's going to be such a strange feeling watching the game on Sunday... don't think I'll experience a more foreign feeling watching a game of footy.
I'll probably grow to love these contests in time though, if I don't immediately.
Love having you on the board and offering these insights, but i’d be lying if I wasn’t a little offended for Bowes with him being compared to Silvagni there

Let's see if Silvagnis stats line up this year against Bowes. He's a very average player and if his name wasn't Silvagni he wouldn't be talked about much at all.

Agree. To be honest comparing Jack Silvagni with Bowes is borderline embarrassing.

Carlton's forward line is looking pretty tall with the likes of McKay (204cm), Casboult (201cm), C.Curnow (192cm), McGovern (191cm) and Paddy Dow (187cm). Lobbe (200cm) will also rotate through their forward line. This would concern me if we had we not sufficiently covered Fremantle's tall forward line two weeks ago. Having said that, just about all of our defenders will be giving up a fair amount of height to their opponents so they'll have to be on top of their game to nullify that advantage.

For clarification, I wasn't suggesting that Bowes was on Jack's level I was just saying that his build and ability to play across the ground is similar.
Perhaps I erred in my wording there though.

I wish Jack had the same impact as Bowes.
He's got a lot of hard work to do to even get back into our line up.

I’m really hoping we get the win but I’ve got the feeling that maybe the boys have gotten ahead of themselves and expecting to come out and it be a cakewalk, I hope not but it’s just a feeling

I'm the same. I have no expectations of winning this at all.
